An interesting exchange on Oxford Chiltern Bus Page (issue 291, Thursday 7th March) as to why the new Oxford City electrics will not be route-branded, even for Park & Ride.
===========================================================================================
"Amun Bhora writes "I am wondering whether you know if OBC plan to brand some of the new Electroliners in Park & Ride livery? It seems thus far all deliveries have been in either Brookes or City livery. It seems a shame to no longer have a dedicated P&R livery. The P&R livery was always quite striking and made it easier for users to spot the services. None the less it is great to see the electric buses out in service at last."
"Luke Marion, Managing Director replied :
"No we won't have a dedicated P&R livery any more, this is for two reasons - firstly the expansion of the 400 service to include the former U1 Brookes workings, and secondly because we won't be able to stick so rigidly to the allocation going forwards, as the EV buses will need to be rotated around more to spread the load on the batteries more evenly. There will also be a need for mid-day charging on some of the boards, which will present obvious challenges for route branding."

Some Oxford City and Thames Travel service changes from Sunday 14th April: 3, 3A (City-Rose Hill/Greater Leys): the current 3A route around Greater Leys has attracted considerable criticism, the route will therefore be revised to operate directly via Grenoble Road, Watlington Road and Garsington Road to Templars Square. Route 3 will be retimed to co-ordinate with the revised 3A. 6 (City-Wolvercote) and 35 (City-Abingdon): these services will have new timetables and the weekday evening and Sunday daytime services will no longer be cross-linked across the City. 6 will operate up to every 20 minutes on Sundays. 23 (Great Western Park-Henley) and 33 (Oxford-Wallingford): these routes will be restructured, with route number 23 discontinued. Route 33 will become an Abingdon-Wallingford-Henley route operating hourly, and will be complemented by route 33A running hourly between Great Wesstern Park and Wallingford via the new housing development at Highcroft (Wallingford). The section of route between Abingdon and Oxford via Cumnor will become a separate new route, numbered 44; whilst Botley Road remains closed under the railway bridge at Oxford Station this route will terminate and start at Osney Island. 136 (Cholsey-Wallingford-Benson): split into two routes with the Wallingford-Benson service renumbered 139. All links for Wallingford school will be retained. X1 (Oxford-Wantage), X2 (Oxford-Didcot) and X3 (Barton-Oxford-Abingdon): revised timetables. Some late evening X3 journeys will continue to and from Wantage replacing X1 journeys. NX2 journeys on Friday and Saturday nights revised to start from Westgate instead of Oxford Station. X34 (Didcot-Newbury) and X35 (Didcot-Faringdon): revised timetables. X35 will be cut back from Faringdon to Wantage, being replaced over this section by the reintroduction of route 67, this will aid reliability and flexibility when there is flooding at East Challow. X36 (Didcot-Wantage): revised timetable, with the Monday-Friday service extended to and from Harwell Campus. In addition, there are new timetables for route 43 (Oxford-Wantage), ST1 (Oxford-Harwell Campus), ST2 (JR Hospital-Wytham) and X40/40C (Oxford-Caversham-Reading). Operation of ST2 will transfer to Oxford City. www.oxfordbus.co.uk/service-changes-14th-april-2024

The rollout of Oxford City's all-electric fleet has reached the half-way stage, with 52 of the 104 vehciles now in service. This includes the entire BrookesBus and City Sightseeing fleets, and the five single-deck Wright Kite Electroliners. The entry into service of the 60 Wright Streetdeck Electroliners with the redesigned front for Oxford City routes is now underway, so far all those that have entered service have retained their '73' registrations.
