I have my top 10:
131 - my favourite route of all because of its as reliable as an old loyal dog
yes I’d say there are routes with *nicer* scenery than this, but it’s still very nice in a lot of nice scenery along the route. It doesn’t get caught up in traffic that much and is ran to an absolutely exceptional standard, I’d personally say being the most reliable route in London. Never ever seen a gap on this route and the headways are nearly always perfect.
14 - apart from congestion an amazing route with some beautiful views which runs with a brilliant collection of exceptionally maintained buses. The 74 I also really like which is really similar to this route but this route pips it.
135 - again an amazing ride through the Docklands which is generally very reliable. It’s a shame the EHVs running it are horrifically maintained, they’re shocking.
139 - covered earlier, amazingly nice routes with some of my favourite G2s in London
210 - again covered earlier for the same reason. Can be a bit unreliable though
247 - an amazing trek through rural Essex, very much worth the journey. Has lost a little bit of magic since it doesn’t run with Tridents anymore but it’s still an amazing route.
265 - if you get on it from the start from Putney Bridge, the journey through Barnes Common is fantastic. And I love RATP DLEs, I think they’re fantastic vehicles although some disagree.
412 - just absolutely amazing from start to finish. EVERYONE needs to do an end to end ride on this route, honestly it’s just breathtakingly beautiful.
C3 - very very nice journey this route, travels though lots of affluent areas and I always love a route that gets stopped at an automatic gate, it feels important travelling through it
C10 - just a lovely lovely journey on absolutely brilliant single deckers. Really worth the journey
Some routes which aren’t my favourite overall but contain some of my favourite sections:
394 - same as what
wirewiper said about it, but such a brilliantly quirky little route
423 - section that travels directly alongside Heathrow Runway is just a fantastic experience.
W3 - covered earlier, the section around Ally Pally again has just some amazing views
Most hated:
11 - doesn’t move at all due to non-stop traffic, can’t be bothered to ride it again. Awful.
15 - same as 11
32 - dull dull dull. Just a completely straight line with the same boring dreary scenery.
38 - not necessarily the route itself but I hate how many resources this route unnecessarily leeches that it DOESN’T NEED, while watching every other route getting slashed left right and centre. For this reason I hold such a grudge against this route
228 - awful awful awful awful. Dreary, packed, horrible, indirect and unreliable. Just don’t ever ride it as it’s not worth it.
297 - same as 228. So ridiculously slow and personal opinion but I hate SELs as much as LTs, which is a lot.
381 - again I think this route is awful. Just really not nice and bleak.
However if you want a route which I really really class as both amazing and horrible, you want the
401. Starts off with an amazing, beautiful trek through hilly Belvedere, but then gets onto Yarnton Way through to Thamesmead, which really is absolutely horrible imo. Bleak, and the grim, dull and grotty 60s architecture just looks diabolical, enough to dampen anyone’s day that place, it’s just horrible. So that route really is a route of two halves imo, a real best/worst route
