Perhaps it could be driver training for the east/south london lines Possible with the rumoured take over of the metro lines. Don't think it's for that, if TfL are actually taking the lines over which is still in question then they'd probably get the existing stock until they can place an order themselves.

Perhaps it could be driver training for the east/south london lines Possible with the rumoured take over of the metro lines. Even if there was a "takeover" of the metro lines it would be many (many) years before the fleet is replaced with Class 710s. If anything, they would be training with the new 707s EMC testing has nothing to do with driver training or any takeover of rail lines.

Perhaps it could be driver training for the east/south london lines It's definitely not for the South London Lines because of the train design and the evacuation tunnels on the core route section. All trains on the ELL and SLL will have the class 378. The 710s will go to the NLL and WLL expansion.

To add on further from the previous comment. Between Whitechapel and Surrey Quays. That section of the ELL is considered to be the core route of the overground. Due to the tunnels on that stretch of the line the 5 car 710s will not be able to operate on the ELL as the 378s has a door at the front centre of the drivers cab whereas the 710s does not.
I am aware of the tunnel stretch between Hampstead Heath and Finchley Road on the NLL.

My train on the Watford-Euston line yesterday morning was a 5-car 710, didn’t think these ever ran on this line!
