I've noticed how interesting and useful some school routes are, and there are some I'd like to see upgraded to full time routes creating useful new links. Two that come to mind are; 667- Making this full time would give a service between Chigwell Station and Woodford Bridge along the High Road, hitherto unserved, with a little extension beyond West Hatch school. 646- linking Noak Hill, Harold Hill, Hornchurch and Upminster in one route. Okay it might not be commercially viable, and it's not going to happen. Any other school routes you'd like upgraded to full time?

The 652 has an interesting link with the only bus linking Rainham and Upminster but it duplicates quite a lot of routes though.

It cuts become brutal you could cut the 241 completely (After 474 diverted) and scale the 325 back / divert elsewhere and make the school bus 678 full time.
678 would still provide a link to Stratford from Custom House - slightly longer via Forest Gate. Link to Forest Gate , Upton Lane , Romford Road maintained from Prince Regent Station (325) - it would duplicate the DLR slightly but create new links to Beckton during the day.

When I first moved where I am now the route ran onto Limehouse

When the 603 started there were calls to make it full time, as it would provide useful links between Muswell Hill/East Finchley and the Hampstead area.

When the 603 started there were calls to make it full time, as it would provide useful links between Muswell Hill/East Finchley and the Hampstead area. The 603 was actually created as a result of a campaign for an all-day route. There was a tentative plan for a route numbered 360 (which shows you how long ago that was, as the current 360 was introduced in early 2003) but in the event it only materialised as a schooltime route. This was at a time when spending on the bus network was at its peak, but even then they couldn't find a justification for an all-day service. The anomaly of running a "school" route during school holidays was supposedly to gauge demand for a regular service, although how they expected to attract regular custom for a route with such limited operating hours is beyond me.
I'm (pleasantly) surprised at how long the school holiday service lasted, but I suppose it was inevitable that it would be removed at contract renewal this time round.

I've mentioned on here a few times about the 690 and how few schoolchildren it actually carries most days and how it would be better becoming a normal route instead providing a more direct route to Clapham Common than the 322, giving the busy 37 assistance between Herne Hill & Clapham Common and introducing new links to Wandsworth Common. I'd also divert it from Burntwood Lane to Wandsworth via Trinity Road instead further creating new links.

I've long felt that the 657 forms the basis for an extra suburban route given the unique direct between Chingford Mount / Hatch and Woodford Green. I'd tweak it to run to Woodford Stn at one end and perhaps IKEA / Tesco at Angel Road via Meridian Water. So Woodford Stn - Woodford Green - Forest Lane - Chingford Hatch - Chingford Mount - Billet - A406 - Meridian Water - IKEA.
In a fantasy tendering game I had a service from Woodford to Friern Barnet that used the 657 link then overlapped with the 444 in part via Turnpike Lane and the 144 to Muswell Hill.

Upgrade the route 624 and possibly extend it to Bexleyheath Shopping Centre Not convinced. I suppose if you swapped the Bexleyheath-Bexley routing of the 229 and 269 you could dispense with the 602, but otherwise I don’t really see any of the Bexleyheath/Eltham area school routes adding much extra to the bus network if introduced as a regular service.

There is a large amount of people going from the Thamesmead area to Bexleyheath daily all those School Routes are needed. The 602 would still be required because the 229 would not be able to cope. The 601 is a route I think should serve Bexleyheath Clock Tower in the PM at least because the 401 gets very heavy loadings.

Upgrade the route 624 and possibly extend it to Bexleyheath Shopping Centre The 132 already provides this link and Bexleyheath to Eltham is quiet
