Could some of the VLA's (the ones in better condition) at Beddington be reinstated for school services? Some still have blinds which would help it’s aliso been mentioned that the bus will need to have IBus installed as well It shouldn't be that hard to re install al the ibus?

Still trying to get my head around how this will work with the "every other bus" for school children on normal services. Can see a few annoyed passengers hailing a bus only for it to sail pass the stop! And will the other limited capacity buses be for non school kids only. You can see the scenario, normal service turns up, takes the kids, leaves the adults behind. School bus arrive 1 minute later, larger capacity, but empty as all those at the bus stop can't get on. Can see some very angry commuters in the upcoming week I can’t get my head around this either The only way I see it working, is if one bus for the public (displaying a route number as now), and the other is a private charter. You simply can’t make an service bus into limited ticket type, when alternate buses accept all tickets, especially if displaying same route and destination. What bus driver is going to say front of queue can’t get on.

What do you expect??!! It's the peoples republic of Lambeth. TBH, they right though - I've also had to sign a petition because the road down from me got one such scheme and yet, it's far more capable of handling through traffic than my road which is a narrow road, only has two passing points and one side nearly exclusively reserved for parking. All the schemes have done is increase traffic on the main roads surrounding my estate I have signed a few petition ... they normally come back with BS replies, normally their responses show 2:1 support for the scheme when a poll on the area Facebook group shoes 3:1 against. When challenged for evidence as to how they arrived at those figures ... hide behind confidentiality curtains.

I can imagine getting an extra 200 buses is probably keeping the operators busy this week, however will there be enough drivers to cover the extra workings? I suspect it will be even more difficult outside of London too.

The bright green slipboards are ready for September and I've seen some of the large vinyls to be stuck up at key stops, they're much brighter and more visible than the yellow 'bus full' ones! Luckily my local route (240) isn't getting any of these 'every other bus for schoolkids' measures

Operators have been advised which routes would be involved, I am not sure it’s been made public yet.

Cool yeah should have said meant to the public. There is a list of extra buses and every other bus on the TfL bus service changes page now I found it on the travel guidance for schools page after linking through the coronavirus page. It seems like it will only run for two months but will affect a lot of routes. My main question is how will drivers stop kids boarding the non-school designated services, can they? What are schools going to do to encourage kids to walk or cycle rather than take the bus? What happens after the October half term, does the scheme stop and go back to normal? What times of the day does it start and finish, not clear at all? These are just a few of my questions?
