www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-54188766New precautionary measures set in place for the North East of England where there has been a "concerning" rise in cases. This isn't a lockdown as such but more or less just a curfew on restaurants, bars and pubs (they must be closed between 10pm and 5am). I really don't see how this will be effective but if it's still in place when I'm back up there in less than two weeks time, I'll be happy to share my experience of these measures.

Public Transport is part of the restrictions in the north east and is only for essential travel - stay safe up there

I understand the importance of iBus announcements but feel this is a tad excessive. On the 37 this morning for 33 stops and this is how many announcements wwre played (may be miscounted by one or two as didn't start counting from beginning, only after I realised how much the driver loved their announcements!) 7 This Bus Is Full 9 Soc.Distance - Be Seated 11 Face Mask Enforcement 3 Seats Available On Upper Deck (That's not even counting the plethora of verbal announcements the driver made)

He was even playing messages such as "A customer needs to use the wheelchair space please make room" I even saw him do it so it wasn't an Ibus fault. The amount of times the social distancing message played out was ridiculous.

I just use my contactless card or phone to pay for things these days. Faster, easier, secure and safer. Oyster cards can always be topped up online and parents should top up their child's oyster if they do not have a bank account.

I don't agree with this at all, there are plenty of shops that will happily take cash for oyster top ups so why shouldn't tube station ticket machines?

The problem is not everyone carries or owns a card particularly the elderly and what happens in the scenario that the card only machines fail - at least now, you can use an ATM and draw cash out for a cash payment machine

I wouldn't be surprised if they started doing card only and use covid as an excuse and use the same tactics as they did with ticket office closures

They do more to help people than just selling tickets god for bid there is another incident like 7/7 or a major fire those people would go down into the tunnels and help evaluate passengers and help the injured.
