Currently on a bus with 9 passengers upstairs, so far 7 not wearing facemasks. Countless more boarding and staying downstairs again mask less. It does almost make you feel like giving up trying to do your bit. Funny I was out on buses, tubes and in central London all day, most of the those I observed were wearing masks. It must just be where you live. On a bus now and everyone is wearing a mask, not one non-mask wearer on board. It was a mixed bag where I went today and I wasn't in my own area for once

This place is a joke if you don't agree with a certain topic you are accused of making things up! I have two eyes just like you and I know what I see when out and about.

You are the one accusing me of saying you are lying, just accept that I was offering what I saw with my eyes just like you did. No accusing you of lying, no implication, just my observations. Absolute insanity.

Way there: all wearing masks, young couple got on with pram and weren't masked. Way back: two elderly people not wearing masks, one wore an exemption lanyard. All others masked.

Surprised that you saw two elderly people not wearing masks, though as you say one wore an exemption lanyard. I'd have thought the elderly would be the ones wearing masks the most since they're the most vulnerable. In and around Ruislip I've even seen elderly in the open air wearing masks. When I went on the H13 and almost no one was wearing masks it was Friday evening and mostly the youth travelling on the bus, so maybe the time of day/week makes a slight difference as to what types of people are travelling on the buses. Fridays and Saturdays probably more people travel to parties, restaurants etc (particularly in the evenings) whereas probably not as much on Monday

I think east London is particularly bad even on trains especially TfL Rail from Stratford towards Romford.

Just by working in the store that I work in, you get an idea of which type of people usually would wear one and the elderly aren’t top of that list, middle aged comply more IMO

Don't you think charging pensioners will just encourage them to continue to drive ... thereby boosting the car led recovery? Removal of free travel regardless of one group will lead to a car usage boost, it's why I think free travel should be kept 24/7 as far as possible. But if fares have to be introduced, one group should not be discriminated over the other. What a nonsense. How would removing free travel encourage a car boost. That is assuming the majority have cars or would have access to use or buy a car. The majority of cases it is not so. Why would you think they may not move to cycle or take the train then, or even walk. A lot of people who was using free travel would use the bus for 2 or 3 stops. This car led recovery nonsense has only come from the anti car brigade and is non existent. Public transport really needs to up its game if it is serious about attracting people to it. Since the pandemic the Underground is now the slowest at recovering to pre-covid levels than any other transport in London.

I don't think the views of a multicultural city that's globally renown is what's lagging behind. If you really think Winchester or Newcastle is ahead of London then I don't know what leg you have to stand on. These children are who will be looking after you in old age, the least you can do is at least give them free travel when they need it. Not all parents get benefits and it's already well known the state of benefits in this country do not usually cover the costs properly of raising a child. You only need to look at the campaigns pioneered over the past few months of how many children have been starving. In third world countries children are starving........ in the UK there is a childhood obesity crisis. You are assuming everyone in the third world as you put it are starving. A total BS stereotype created by the media.

No one said masks are a solution but they help mitigate the spread providing it’s done by those without a medical exemption. 70% of people have agreed with Khans decision to keep mask wearing and I support it when it comes to things like the Underground which has very poor ventilation and on certain lines, the ability to social distance is impossible. Vaccine take up is lower in London than elsewhere so until that changes, I don’t see the issue with mask wearing. The worrying thing is vaccine take up is really on the decline I think it was about 57K first doses yesterday! My local chemist has started to offer the vaccine and the staff member looked bored silly yesterday standing out looking for takers.
In my work place we renewed all the one way signage etc today so no chance of going back to normal anytime soon.
The one-way signage is the most pathetic thing and imo does nothing to stop the spread and in some cases made things worse. Especially on the Underground as it kept people closer together in flows which defeats the object. Purely because people tend to go into the station in herds, coming off buses etc. then the same with them all coming off trains at the same time.

How on earth do drivers of V extras get away with blatantly driving past waiting passengers with their half hidden tiny slipboard?! 😡 If no one says anything it would happen. If you have noticed this, then you should have sent an email off to TfL

You honestly couldn't make it up with the government latest move!
Only double-jabbed will be allowed into nightclubs from September - PM
So its fine for everyone to go mad now and mix like crazy but from September only double jabbed allowed into clubs.
Unfortunately it is not quite 'freedom day' as Boris promised This freedom day nonsense came from the media. I don't see the point in it, even calling for a bank holiday; what a load of rubbish

I don't see the point in it, even calling for a bank holiday; what a load of rubbish Definitely calling for a bank holiday is unnecessary. I think the term 'pingdemic' also came from the media, and they are exaggerating how bad the situation is. Yes there have been lots of key workers self isolating but the shelves in the shops I have been to have never been anywhere near empty, and the only reason why they would is because people panic buy, and other people see them panic buy so they do the same.
