Even though I'm not a fan of a Conservative government we need a leader at this time and he is good at being a leader. I hope he recovers swiftly and is back to normal very quickly. Dominic Raab is now in charge until further notice, being the first Secretary of State. Although I've been critical of the governments response which personally has been slow & ponderous (of course Trump doing his best to provide the worst response I've ever seen), I very much wish him well and hopefully he makes a full recovery. No doubt a certain person at the Uni of Warwickshire is celebrating very hard right now. I echo you and others in saying that I wish the Prime Minister a speedy recovery. Love him or despise him, we need a leader during these difficult times, and Boris has done the best possible job

Nope it's only the seats closest to the driver is blocked off. What they want is the front doors to be blocked of and people to bored via the rear instead. I thought that it already exist because the 395s don’t let people go though the front doors or pay. Whenever I board a 395 a driver always tells me to go through the middle doors and not pay so avoid be contact with the customers. If this policy is not in place on all buses I wonder why not.

I have only seen the seats closet to the driver taped off Definitely driver preference as went on the same bus twice in one day last week, the first time the driver had the front door blocked off but the second time you could board through the front door. The second time the driver was different. Don't know about the 395.

I understand why some drivers don’t want to use the front doors.
Over in Kent, the use of the former Arriva click vans at NF have stopped. The 484/485/485A is now run by buses off the 480 & 490.
I’ve seen some buses with some seats marked up as closed , in order to ensure there is social distancing on board. This is fine whilst the lock down remains in place but not sustainable afterwards,
In Bethnal Green area, the 8 and 25 seem reasonably well used still. Generally , in that area, the only evidence of a problem is spaced out queues outside the supermarkets.

You have to be careful that the actions don’t miss the point and assume the passengers are exclusively the problem. One of the deaths was a garage supervisor at Willesden. How many passengers would a supervisor within the garage meet ? Before closing front doors, you need to be certain that it it is not passengers, but instead could something be wrong with the cleaning and sanitisation of the bus controls between staff changeovers. Could it be the door handles to staff locker rooms or mess rooms aren’t being disinfected, was a staff vehicle used without be sanitised since last user, I don’t want to accuse, but there have been some comments that suggest 100% of the risk goes if passengers use back doors. For obvious reasons there is a reluctance to accept some colleagues may be the problem, and some Union comments are the worst for assuming must be anyone but staff. What worries me is all drivers are perfect attitude may be masking the cause of how some are catching Coronavirus.

Also worth noting Lufthansa have also shut down Germanwings today. El Al is also the latest of many airlines to fall into trouble when the Israeli government rejected a loan for them. Should it collapse it'll leave Israel without a native carrier as far as I'm aware so it could be interesting to see what is done with it. EasyJet have managed to secure a loan from the UK government helping their survival. Virgin now looks like it's doomed, it's become a case of when it will now collapse and not if it will collapse. I really feel bad for all the employees, many of who are Ex Thomas Cook and ex Monarch staff who have already gone through the hardship of losing jobs. The UK government do not seem to be intent on helping them at all, very sad seeing as Virgin initially set a new standard causing competition to catch up although not at all surprising seeing as Virgin was losing more and more money and it is unfair to inject taxpayer money into something that might fail again in a few months. The situation at Emirates seems to be a lot worse than initially reported. They weren't doing too well before the blockades all started to hit and now with pretty much all international travel suspended it's not looking good for an airline that only operates international flights. The situation there is very unique as Emirates and Dubai airport themselves make up 80% of the Dubai economy meaning a full bail out from the government will be near impossible.

This is a very bad time for all those in the aviation industry . There is an airline in Israel called Israir but these only operate seasonal services and have a fleet of 7 planes so such a shame to see that El AL is in trouble the airline has a lot of interesting history beyond it with them playing an important rule in humanitarian rescue efforts, back in 1991 they set the world record of the amount of passengers on a commercial jet bringing 1,088 Jewish refugees back from Ethiopa as part of operation solomon. They are also the only airline of which all of their planes are equip with missile defence systems although I believe one Air china 474 is quiped with it as well as this plane carries the president. Awful news about Emirates whose service is nothing short of excellent from my experience, as you say it will have a huge impact on Dubai's economy.

The situation there is very unique as Emirates and Dubai airport themselves make up 80% of the Dubai economy meaning a full bail out from the government will be near impossible. State owned airlines based in the UAE contribute about $47 billion equivalent to 13% of the nations GDP. Emirates have suffered the consequences of the notoriously vulnerable financial model that is ultimately built on speculation like much of the state it calls home. If there's one thing the past decade has shown, it is just how deep the pockets of the state are willing to go, the combined external debt for the entirety of the UAE since the last financial crash is estimated to be well over $200 billion with the bulk that coming from infrastructure and transport expenditure. It hasn't hindered the incredible run of growth out there, but like you say, the double hit of the aviation industry plus the inevitable downturn in tourist numbers this year is certainly making people worried.

How will that work with one Doored buses. With with the pvrs reduced across the board perhaps some of the relevant routes could use some dual-doored buses from other routes, eg 315 and 322 using buses from the 170. In the case of the G1 however it would likely have to be a case of the Battersea- bound buses terminating dual-doored examples at Clapham Junction. Alternatively rearrange the route so that the last and first stops for the dual-doored buses are at Latchmere Road by the low bridge with buses then running light under¹ the bridge to Battersea Latchmere for driver's stand time ¹ - if buses are legally short enough else scrap the whole idea it would be intreseting on seeing how the W4 or 379 runs. If we have ENL's on the W4 then getting stuck on route or having to go forward and back to complete certain turns.
