Anyone else more concerned about getting their hair cut before riding buses after this is over? 😁 What's this got to do with transport - apart from the clippers travelling over your head? I know some people would be keen to start traveling I.E using transport after the lockdown has ended so that's why. I apologise to you if you took any offence with my comment but sometimes a light hearted comment is needed during these times.

If this thread has to be about transport, why has it been placed in the Off Route section? I know it says transport in the title but if we want to talk about transport we should do it in the transport section,
Rename this thread and allow it to be about the current situation in general in keeping with the "off route" nature of this part of the forum.

Seems to be a Sunday service today instead of Saturday On many routes it has been a Sunday service since 30th March! Yes I know Good Friday is normally a Saturday service - but these aren't normal times.

As I said previously I made the thread way back before it became more serious and it was not related to one aspect ie buses so placed in off route! Really dont see the issue - had plenty of replies and people seem to find it. If such a big issue the title can be changed to Coronavirus discussion.

My only problem with that is it will promote free travel, and second of all when this is all done it will take 1 year to re-educate people to use front door.

Maybe, but the list of unintended consequences of our responses to coronavirus will be huge and some of great long-term detriment, but in the general scheme of things those above will be considered fairly trivial matters. One of the first things public transport wise that needs a radical rethink after this nightmare starts to abate is a recognition that London cannot be the only major capital city that is expected to fund its buses and trains almost entirely through the farebox.

My issue with this is it’s looking for a problem that might not exist - drivers are protected by an assault screen. Drivers would be better protected with PPE considering conditions at some garages are apparently still not up to scratch. Meanwhile, passenger safety is being compromised now they’re all going through one door - some routes still have big enough loadings for this to be an issue

When I was a kid in the Phipps Bridge area there wasn't a Sunday service on the 200 and the 152 was such a poor service it may as well have not run at all. In a sense however they were small mercies as we all learnt from it the value of a good brisk walk between there and Colliers Wood and Mitcham, something which I still do today when the weather is good enough or if the next bus would take longer in waiting than for us to walk half the distance to Colliers Wood. Even when going to and from school I would most times walk it rather than take the bus, bearing in mind I will use the bus fare for sweets
