There was certainly a period - in I think the late 2000s - when the Southend Lane bridge was being struck with depressing regularity. I can entirely understand why Stagecoach would choose to be risk-averse with operations from KB. There's no need to put double deckers into KB currently so why do it? If for example the 194 was gained, then maybe it would change, not least because you'd be removing the risk of a light run back to TL going that way. if Stagecoach were risk adverse they would have closed BW and WH by now

Something must have changed because after several years buses were allowed to use the road. I am guessing some type of risk assessment deemed it safe that drivers wouldn't make a mistake and miss the turning.

Off the top of my head I can only recall one double decker hitting that bridge, a Trident on the 75 and coincidentally the same bus also hit the Shortlands low bridge, presumably with a different driver at the wheel? There probably have been other instances but I certainly can't recall the bridge being hit by double decker buses on a regular basis. You're more or less implying that drivers at KB can't be trusted to drive double deckers yet as previously mentioned the 180 used to go almost up to the bridge before turning left into Worsley Bridge Road and double deckers on rail replacement services still do without any problems. A London Central AVL hit the bridge at Lower Sydenham but I don't recall any others outside of that or the Trident mentioned in recent times

I wonder whether any Stagecoach London buses will be loaned to the West Midlands for the Commonwealth Games?
Admittedly I may well see for myself on July 30th.

Has any LI buses had Stagecoach logos applied to the buses yet? What a shame that no X bus routes don’t meet any LI routes anymore like the good days then we could see two buses that were under the same operators now with different operators side by side. It’s also shame there’s no 80% liveries anymore then the ex Tower Transit buses could that Stagecoach Orange and blue at the rear.

Is there any reason the original TT fleet numbers are so huge? The GAL/Arriva system (start at 1) looks much cleaner, "E47" or "DW273" is far more practical than "VH2757288182939."

Is there any reason the original TT fleet numbers are so huge? The GAL/Arriva system (start at 1) looks much cleaner, "E47" or "DW273" is far more practical than "VH2757288182939." They were inherited from First and I imagine were done to allow cohesion with the First commercial pastures as under First when they were done with stock in London, it would usually be cascaded to other parts of the country (for example TNL33003 has now become 33003 in Norwich) Once upon a time, they were numbered like DW273 & T73. An example of this was TN32810/32810 used to be TN810 many moons ago.
