The 410 announcement is pronounced as four ten, and I assume 110 and 210 are the same 110 and 210 are pronounced as 1-ten and 2-ten yes. And the *11 routes are pronounced 1-eleven, 2-eleven and 4-eleven The 3-1-0 sounds about right for TfL nowadays, no consistency and some of the announcements are terrible. The huge pauses between ‘to’ and the new destination get me. The worst one is the new P5 ‘Nine Elms, Patmore Estate’, it’s said in such a low, monotone way with no energy. And I also hate how the SL routes have such a pause between ‘SL1 … to North Finchley’. I could rant loads about some of today’s ibus announcements, I have no idea who is signing this nonsense off but it’s clearly someone with very little experience The number announcements are pretty consistent. I have not come across an anomaly. If it is 3-1-0, then that would be an anomaly and probably the first thing I would right in the consultation! I have not paid too much attention to the rest of the destination announcements and usually put anything down to an error rather than an intentional change/polciy.

It was planned to start on Saturday 31st August but first day of operation has been deferred to Sunday 1st September. I don't think it has been said explicitly but it may be a nod to the Jewish Shabbat (Sabbath). I rarely speculate on the forum but a possible outcome post trial period may be to operate the route Mon-Fri and Sun only. I can't see that happening. Whilst the route is aimed to serve the Jewish community it is of course open to all and will have demand across all days especially as it runs along the 210 and 254 corridor.

As mentioned up thread it is to be trialled on route 86. I wonder what ibus2 will entail, will it mean Emma’s voice is made redundant with new announcements replaced with AI?😂

I wonder what ibus2 will entail, will it mean Emma’s voice is made redundant with new announcements replaced with AI?😂 The MDT (iBus unit) and ETM (ticket machine) will both be things of history from what I’m told, replaced by a combined console and reader in the location of the current ETM. Similar to how many operators outside London use Ticketer machines that largely combine both functions of the ETM and MDT setup TfL presently have. From what I’m hearing, iBus2 will largely change the back office stuff more than the passenger interface initially, but with it comes the potential for improved information around diversions to both drivers and passengers as well as connecting modes.

If we went down that road every other religious group would get involved and buses would end up running only on Tuesday afternoons.

It just occurred to me the 165 will potentially be going into its next contract with another new set of buses, this route has had new buses on every contract since 2008 😂 Hopefully this time with double deckers though, although the 310 is only 1 year I can see it doing well and staying and the 165s buses remaining on the route. If 2025 brings the 165 another new set of buses it’ll be:
2008: Brand new DMLs under First. 2013: Brand new E200 13-reg under Stagecoach 2018: Brand new E200 68-reg MMCs under Stagecoach
And again the 296 uses hand me downs from the 165,first the 13 reg now the 68 reg.
I must say regardless of the result I will miss the E400s on the 165, in a big fan of the E400s working on the 165 I feel they are really suited to the route.

The 165 has had a lot of upgrades come to think of it. 10.2m DMLs to 10.8/10.9m E200/MMCs and now to E400s.

I expected the announcement for the 310 would be like 3,10 not 3,1,0. Just logged it in and it’s pronounced like that. Are the 110,210 and 410 like that too? The 210 is pronounced 2-10. I think the 330 is now pronounced 3-3-o as it was previously 3-30 but im not a local so cant confirm. Am off to go do my weekly volunteering after this post. I will pine for the 330 today but as of Tuesday, I can confirm the announcement is 3-30.

Some of HK's 10.9m E200MMC have been re-blinded in preparation for the debut of the 310 tomorrow. Saw a couple of them on the D6, with the qualifiers added to the destinations. An interesting one is that it's now showing "Cambridge Heath, Ash Grove" instead of just "Ash Grove" - it feels like iBus will align later on.

The 165 buses I think were blinded prior to going to HK as I saw Crossharbour Asda on the blind set.
