15 uniterrupted BZL's on the 58 today. Whoppers. Enjoy East London, enjoy. 👍 ..ending what must surely be the most protracted route conversion ever. It's taken almost four months to commission about 20 buses. Normally four weeks would be considered quite a lengthy period to prepare a fleet of that size for service. Does anyone know the reason?

I believe the 58 used buses from the D7 batch, followed by a top up of its own. The D7s contract started considerably earlier so I expect there was a pause in deliveries.

It seems as though a B5LH MMC has strayed on to the D8, unfortunately I have no pictures, but they are doing amazing on the route. I hope to see the other one on the route soon! (FYI, 13102 is on the route, 13101 hasn't gone on it yet)

I think electrification has finally started at HK today, in the yard, half of the ground was digged up and there were digger. It could just be sewage work but I think it’s electrification

But it was a brand new technology back then so it is understandable to an extent. No such excuse for the 58 - I wonder if the BZLs were found to have major defects and had to be reworked before entry into service.

As has been mentioned above, the initial batch of 10 were originally for the D7 and diverted to the 58 - the others are from the 277 batch, and have been slow to be delivered. The last one 86190 only arrived this week.

There were also problems with the LED displays which had to be replaced. Did the LED problem affect this batch as well? I thought it was just the 276 buses? It seems to be a variety of Mobitec buses that it's happening to, there's seemingly an issue with some of Arriva's ESs too now.

I’m sure the 235 beat this - four months to commission an electric allocation seems pretty decent compared to other examples which took over a year at least (not referring to the 507/521 but more recent examples, see 297 for example)
