Are you saying regular passengers are not fans? Not gonna lie I have changed my opinion about the LTs. They might be dark beasts of the road by sitting next to the sliding window on a hot day is like heaven. The windows are so much better than conventional buses, so much air through it. Yeh that saved me on some of those hot days this year. Getitng the seat where the window was fully open next to my head was so good.

So far on the first day there are lots of people already not fans of the new 248. If anything will unify the entire bus community clearly it’s a hatred for LTs and Streetlites… Are you saying regular passengers are not fans? No, just enthusiasts online. The passengers are probably enjoying some comfier seats.

Interesting times. Still, in one way this shows how versatile the latest LED blinds are. The SEe's at GAL will have no trouble displaying the 123 when they get the route after the dispute enters week two At least they can take solace in Grays still running so the 248 won't return to Stagecoach just yet Ironically I was by Arriva's offices in Theobalds Road, Holborn (they moved there from the digs on Cally Road) and there's a lot of activity (I was fixing a laptop at a company a floor below) so I'm sure they are trying to thrash out a deal with the unions as we speak before the inevitable day. If there's no breakthrough I cannot even see toothless TfL sorting it out. I doubt Sadiq will drag any representatives to Immoral Castle in E16 (new TfL digs built to replace City Hall in Lockdown) and demand an explanation to 46 routes being out of action. This is more serious than one or two garages for a day Can't see any London South garages covering the 19 or 243 for instance Solves the issue of ancient EN's on the 318 though ............................................ Oh hang on 🙄 Norwood could run the 318 using the SLS's

I would say the dislike of the LT's on the 248 would have mainly comes down to the fact it used Scania Omnicitys that was gernally loved by enthusiasts and LT being not the most likeable type doesn't help either and the same did happen with the 227 when it went from the Stagecoach Citaros that very popluar with the drivers and enthusiasts to Go-Ahead Streetlites that are not liked by many in the bus enthusiast community.

I wonder what clause there is in TfL contracts only allowing for strikes to continue for a certain length of time before contracts are reassigned? Not that many other operators have much garage space or many drivers to take on current Arriva work. In addition to London Forest mentioned above, ironically involving some of the same routes such as 38 and 123, another company who lost London bus work when they went on strike was London Country North East. A route involved then and now is route 313. Interesting times. Still, in one way this shows how versatile the latest LED blinds are. They must be licking their lips in anticipation of ideas being seen live

Are you saying regular passengers are not fans? No, just enthusiasts online. The passengers are probably enjoying some comfier seats. Most enthusiasts, unfortunately, have a blinkered view of things. Many say on the first day of a route going to a new operator how dreadful the new operator is (on day one) because they’ve seen bunching etc and wish the previous operator was back, etc etc. Most normal passengers - of whom the network is run for - don’t usually notice imo

In addition some think it is strange for a bus to be curtailed on the first day of operation with a new operator...

Yes, I remember when Metrobus first took over the 293 and there were some Ewell Village turns. The “backlash” received from the “enthusiast community” was quite something.

Ewell love the behaviour of some enthusiasts on these pages For some it's just change. The LT's on the 313 quite suit the route and cope with the higher speeds well. Would love to see LT thrash on the 66 (it's only a matter of time that buses intermix)

If anything will unify the entire bus community clearly it’s a hatred for LTs and Streetlites… I do not see what is wrong with them apart from the electrical problems. I do not see anything wrong with Streetlites either. If anything I would prefer the ride on the LT on the 248 than the Scania's. The ride on the Scania was poo imo. Only looked good from the outside and the sound of the engine is interesting. I also prefer the LT's on the 5 than the WVL. I am not a fan of the slow B9TL and its characterless engine/gearbox combo.
