AE is confirmed to close by the end of January 2023 with the 254's moved to CT. I'm sure this comes as a surprise to nobody It's a surprise to me considering January 2023 was eight months ago! (I'm sure you mean 2024 - and it isn't a surprise).

It will fit into CT because of the amount of night buses Clapton operates. The notice states that "The proposed reallocation is to relocate Route 254 so it will operate fully out of Clapton as we have space available". SF is rumoured to be reponed but nothing yet confirmed Nice to see the 253 and 254 back together again. The 38, 242, 253 and 254 have all had reductions so the combined lower PVRs can fit the 73 in compared to back in the early 00s. It still blows my mind that 70 DW's were running on the 38 at one point. The controllers that were working back then said that you couldn't actually tell if a bus was missing because there would be no gap

Will it fit in or will something move to SF if it reopens. I wonder could this be a indication the 242 has been lost? The 78 loss is the reason it is closing. Not worth keeping AE open for 1 Route.

I wonder could this be a indication the 242 has been lost? I am predicting a Stagecoach win with Smart Hybrids tbh. What Smart Hybrids?

Can't imagine so, a garage closure would have taken months of planning before it's announced to employees. Operators don't get much advance notice of tenders so unless Arriva just didn't bid at all these two are probably not linked.

I am predicting a Stagecoach win with Smart Hybrids tbh. What Smart Hybrids? Will the 199 release a few? nowhere near enough for the 242. Any other spare Non smart hybrids are spoken for with the 97 / 238 / 145.

How long after was the first PVR reduction?

I assume Stagecoach will move into the Arriva side of the garage, they’re going to need the space for electrification to occur and don’t forget it will give them quite a lot of flexibility to bid for other routes. Technically if they wanted to bid for the 34’s they could do that with the additional space and then move the 55’s into HK. I believe Stagecoach already put a cheeky bid in for the 38’s to run it from HK but was turned down due to the price for them to run it. I believe an extra 5 buses would have been needed to maintain the split service

Does anyone know the registration of ES051? I not as confident as I was a few weeks ago that it will be part of the South London batch. Waiting to see what chassis number 254 is when it appears on BLOTW Chassis number 254 is registered BK23ULP to an unnamed operator and according to the DVLA website is silver. In this respect I am reasonably confident to predict there will not be a ES051 coming to London South
