I might have free time this weekend to do some 133/333 journeys for the last time during Arriva’s tenure. Do any regular users on those routes know how BNs LJ60/LJ11 regs fare nowadays? I’d like to grab several G2 B5LHs, but only ones that at least has a partly working electric mode with no engine rattling when accelerating. For instance HV15 was one nice one when I was on 333 last year. I figure a long stretch given their age + HV1-6 already done for last year. The route is full of 20mph running and be wary of the traffic in Streatham due to the LTN so doubt you'll get much speed going but you might be lucky. I used the route on Monday for non enthusiast purposes and the journey to London Bridge was painfully slow despite traffic being ok but the return journey was much more spritely. The HV's are generally ok, can't really give specific examples but I'm sure you'll find good ones and not so good ones Would suggest you tick off a HA as these tend to be better and possibly a ES though the EA's will obviously have ISA. I'm hoping to be use it tomorrow, specifically to tick of a EA

I was anticipating London Bridge for a bit of thrash but even there we didn't pick up a lot of speed.

If you are looking for thrash then the 133 is completely the wrong route for it, or anything in Z1 or Z2 for the matter.

I think they have potential but most drivers are slow and as a result the ride isn’t that interesting. Has nothing to do with slow driving. More due to the fact everywhere is 20 and speed is being monitored. Sooner or later when those AI speed cameras are introduced expect things to be slower… That’s what I meant, there’s nowhere on those routes for the drivers to be too quick anyway with the limits unfortunately.

I was only expecting thrash on London Bridge, where drivers can put their foot down a bit. Please tell me you are joking… you are not serious why would you expect that at all. Whenever I drive over Chelsea or Vauxhall Bridge it is 20 so what is different about London Bridge which is the same speed limit. Obviously… Then why say it in the first place instead of criticising drivers for slow driving, in other words it sounds like you want drivers to speed and get speeding tickets. If you want some quick speed I suggest you get a HV on Route 466 or any route that is outside of a London postcode such as Bexley, Bromley or Croydon. The 468 between South Croydon & Norwood Crown Point is the only Route where I can do 30 mph now FYI.

Thanks for the replies. I will keep expectations low and not compare my previous journeys in past. Seems things have indeed deteriorated with speed/redtape. Even as I said never expected a thrash ride. 😅
Might just take the HA suggestion if things fall apart HV wise in regards to performance.
* ducks in cover and runs away from thrashing buses discussion *

I’m not criticising drivers nor was I trying to say they should go fast, I’m just saying the driving is slow because it is. I’m fully aware on where I can get fast buses, generally not on the 133 or 333 and I know it’s not the drivers fault either

The road layout, bus lane not as it was, the cycle lane and the anti terrorist barriers, not to mention the speed limit. I remember when it was 30 and you could top around 35-40 easily without noticing.

Yep I heard Norwood buses will be the 289's allocation, but again it is all speculation, nothing has been confirmed. Overall that makes sense unless the UKPN’s Fairy switches on the power at TH for Route 64 it’s not happening before the 3rd February… So it is safe to say yes it will be using those buses. The blinds for T186-190, 192, 193 already have blinds for the 64. So if they are short on blind’s problem solved. The great benefit here is the 289 is double decked 7 months early giving it the capacity it needs. In addition I have a feeling HAs will end up on the SL2. With HAs on route SL1, I am inclined to agree.

Seen on a Linkedin post from one of the Arriva procurement managers that 76x more Electroliners and 11x Kites have been ordered for Arriva London, almost certainly for the Thornton Heath tenders.

Are the Kites are for the Superloop route? I think these and the Electroliners (I assume the 243 order has been placed as well) will have the new "Kia Niro Headlights" look compared to the current model

The cats out of the bag for the 255 then! Looks like 10.9s were evaluated and deemed okay to take them, ooooor unless wright have realised they need to offer it in a smaller length for the London market 👀

Probably a year too early for the SL5!
