Seen on a Linkedin post from one of the Arriva procurement managers that 76x more Electroliners and 11x Kites have been ordered for Arriva London, almost certainly for the Thornton Heath tenders. The cats out of the bag for the 255 then! Looks like 10.9s were evaluated and deemed okay to take them, ooooor unless wright have realised they need to offer it in a smaller length for the London market 👀 I suspect the former. The E6 is a long-standing 10.2m route that can fit the standard length Kites so it looks as though they've got good manoeuvrability.

Are the Kites are for the Superloop route? I think these and the Electroliners (I assume the 243 order has been placed as well) will have the new "Kia Niro Headlights" look compared to the current model 255 I assume. Probably a year too early for the SL5! And also potentially the wrong operator!

Let's not forget SL5 being kept with EVs next year would tie in nicely with the other TC routes requiring new EVs, the 60, 166, 412/685 and possibly also 312, 405 & 466 if they don't get extended (I expect they will) What's most interesting to me is if they'll make any structural to the routes themselves or parallel ones for their permanent tenders.

Currently, ENXs are not allowed on that route because of that turn. Has anyone got a screenshot of this post from LinkedIn

If 10.9m vehicles are not allowed on the Route like cybermike137 is saying then they’ll probably be shorter versions.

Has anyone got a screenshot of this post from LinkedIn I just had a look at that on Google maps that turn looks tight will definitely involve using the middle of the road with a 10.9m bus, I don’t know why councils are so stupid to put traffic islands on narrower street near junctions. Certain parts of the B15 in order to make the turn you need the entire road space.

As far as we’re aware 10.9 is the minimum length it’s available in, 10.9m, 11.6m and 12.4m This is total speculation, but given the success Wright are having in London at the moment, they may have realised that so many single deck routes aren’t suitable for buses that long. And have offered a smaller length for the London market that we’re not aware of yet. I have no facts to base that off though

It happened for the 49 and pending for the 151. Recently the Junction of Wells Park Road & Sydenham Hill has had some improvements. The ridiculous pointless traffic island at the top of Well Park Road has been removed.

Single decker routes have slowly disappeared over the years.
