No the Union would be against the vehicles being used in service without any type training. HAs will be a new type to DX as well as the first ever Hybrids there. Precisely… and the company would not expect drivers to do it either. The same goes for Routes if you haven’t learned it they won’t expect you to do it. There are some routes I could do from start to finish without even route learning them, however it is good to Route learn because drivers who do the route daily will tell you about things you need to know when I learned the 249 I was advised that Tooting Bec Gardens and Streatham High Road Junction is an accident hotspot… why because idiots use the straight ahead lane to turn right one day some idiot is gonna crash into the shop window… You see that Junction on the 249 around St Leonards Church. That is a massacre waiting to happen. The amount of times I've seen cars get into accidents around there is alarming. It doesn't help that it has that yellow trap box there. Me I HTL (Hold That LINE!!!) to ensure nobody tries to clip in at the last minute. I know right… I saw an Uber driver bust his tyres there because he wanted to get in front of someone using the wrong lane mounted the traffic Island and serves him right…

I wonder how many hybrids will leave BN as BN have 7 spare electrolinere and a coupe of spare Eas (?) meaning if they intend to keep the spare Electrics at BN all but a few hybrids will be surplus.
Do we have any idea where the Gemini 2 HVs, HAs or the 2 Gemini 3 HVs are heading after today?
There would be:
27 x Spare HAs (Some still spare from the 78.)
2x Spare 17 reg HVs
Over 30x Spare HVs (Gemini 2) Lots of which aren’t in service today.

You drivers on the 249 I have to give you folks my props for that swing you have to do on that junction but more so in the direction of Clapham Common.

That junction has been an accident hotspot for as long as I’m alive - was even worse as a pedestrian and there has been multiple accidents there over the years. It also doesn’t help the fact that particular section of the A23 is full of congestion along with Tooting Bec Gardens

The HV’s at BN started to be withdrawn back in November as ES’s entered service so I suspect the 50 may be left with a part HV & ES allocation from this weekend onwards simply because TH isn’t ready to take on its ES’s. All the EA’s are allocated to the 319 so no electric will leave BN A lot of speculation is suggesting that the HA’s are earmarked for the SL2.

There would be about 9 excess HAs is there a chance they also may head to DX to keep them together and avoid introducing them at a new garage and be used on the 175/150 replacing a few of the older DWs or Ts. I know the tender results for both routes aren’t out yet but I’d imagine they could be replaced early anyway with so many newer DWs/Ts becoming available such as the W3, 279, there’s also still some of the ex 417/160/157/368 Ts sitting around, 30-40 odd Gemini 2 HVs, soon to be the 242s Ex HVs spare (Likely to the W3) etc

My prediction is at least 9 of the G2 HVs will move to TC to replace DW263-271. Although these vehicles are 194 allocated, expected the HV s to be allocated to the 60, with DWs cascaded down to 194. Numbers maybe upto 13 to replace DW259-262 ... this is dependent on the ex 264 blinds having been retained.

I actually thought potentially HVs (Gemini 2) to the 144 (11) and 329 (19) W3 gets the 242s HVs. Ts & DWs freed up to replace older stock on lease or just simply older DW/Ts.

Whatever happens they be sent where they are required…

Would it be economical or worthwhile for such a short period of time? If you going to replace buses like that you would pick the longest contracts, or route you plan to retain with them, which I have not researched to know what they are. Personally would not be surprised to see 3 HAs turn up at TC for the 627, but far from certain.

The best places to send those HVs is DT or WN to replace existing smart blind DWs

Have to say I think the crown for the most dangerous junction has now been taken by the SL1, having to pull out from the Ravenside Industrial Estate bus stop right across a slip road and back on the fast A406. That’s an absolute disaster waiting to happen

Wait what Hybrids is the W3 due to get? Probably HVs from the 242/N242 as that is what becomes available next. Also reports of HV201-206 refurbished. HV233-248 seems to add up but don’t quote me on it…
