I agree whenever I do the 249 I take up both lanes there road users are to stupid even when I do parasites creep into the nearside of the bus trying to get in front before I make the turn.I made some parasite reverse because if they did not the overhang of the bus would scrape there car… why do I have to use that word because that particular road user has no brain driving the car fast like a race… simple they will do anything to get in front of a bus and are that stupid to realise it will probably stop at the next stop. I've never seen a junction where so many people use the wrong lane. There are three lanes at St Leonard's Church yet I can't fathom why so many choose the left hand lane to turn right to head towards Streatham station. Since when do you use the left land most lane to turn right?! The left hand lane is to go up Streatham High Road towards Streatham Hill station. The centre lane is to turn right to head towards Streatham Station. The right hand lane is to go on to Mitcham Lane. In fact it is signposted as that and there are arrows painted on the road. Instead you get people in the left hand lane fighting those rightly in the centre lane to turn right once they cross the lights. It is not just a few cars, I'd estimate that 75%+ of people in the left hand most lane turn right once across the lights.
I have every sympathy that you have to take up both lanes because if you stayed in the centre lane you'd have numpties in the left hand lane trying to go up the outside of the bus as you swing right towards Streatham station.
I agree with you this Junction is definitely the worst. Hence why I do it because many road users have no idea what danger they are actually putting themselves in when trying to undertake a bus in addition those HVs you need to do that anyways because of that traffic island on Streatham High Road. The driving standards are so poor these days that whenever accidents happen on the road I don’t even look at them while driving past as long as no one is hurt or injured I have no sympathy for these idiot drivers at the end of the day they must love to pay higher car insurance premiums…

The 133 leaves BN tonight, and despite only being with Arriva for the past 2 contracts, the route has decades of history at BN, with its sunday service first being run from there in 1952 and week-round service from 1964, all the way up until 1990 when it was awarded to London General on tender. Back in 1964 the route managed to span from Hendon to South Croydon on Sundays! The route will now have been run by all three of Inner South London's operators when it moves over to QB tomorrow. The final bus will be running number BN 5, worked by HV33 LJ11EFZ. 0115 departure from Streatham. The 333 returns to its home of SW tomorrow, having been operated there from its introduction in 2003 until 2017. Last bus is BN 142, worked by HA53 LK66HCE. 0115 departure from Elephant & Castle. A fair few drivers must be going with it ?

I remember once, when I was on their journey with them towards Anerley, and what do you know, a Corsa (typical) tries to cut us up then ends up causing an accident.

Doesn’t surprise me at all… intelligence goes out of the window whenever they see a bus or a lorry.

all im gonna say is that the SL2 should of been allocated with HVs (G2s and maybe the G1s) from the 133 as their contract only lasts for 2 years

In addition when it does go Electric if retained, there is no guarantee it will happen straight away same goes for the SL1… SL5 & SL7 have/will have the oldest buses at least the rest is new / newish…

To be fair they are only nearly 12 years old and it is only short term I can’t believe we’re debating 2012 vehicles being old tbh 😭😭 I remember going on 2012 vehicles in London brand new like yesterday

Just about acceptable I guess. I feel just as old discussing 10 year old buses alone. Time really flies more so when your life changes due to busy schedule. 😢😭😭

Hopefully you’re right. Will be a disgrace if SL5 indeed getting hand me downs close to 15 years, even if diesels. SL7 has 59-reg! Not the most desirable selling point there either. Even if Gemini 2 diesels succumb slower to age esp on a long route. Maybe I think too bleeding edge on SL stuff that should be a selling point to increase bus usage. Esp comfort wise 😎

Hopefully you’re right. Will be a disgrace if SL5 indeed getting hand me downs close to 15 years, even if diesels. SL7 has 59-reg! As much as the B9TLs are excellent buses and have aged very well, the interiors are very poor for such a long, express route and in my opinion it should have been one of the first routes to receive high-spec buses as it could really make a difference to comfort and potentially drive up usage further.
