And you know those traffic lights don't last for long before it changes thus causing a tailback. You drivers on the 249 I have to give you folks my props for that swing you have to do on that junction but more so in the direction of Clapham Common. Have to say I think the crown for the most dangerous junction has now been taken by the SL1, having to pull out from the Ravenside Industrial Estate bus stop right across a slip road and back on the fast A406. That’s an absolute disaster waiting to happen That should not be doing that under any circumstance. I dont mind the SL1 drivers using their initiative, and I have told them they're more then welcome to use the slip roads at the Angel Corner flyover/Cambridge Roundabout or Silver Street if the A406 is slow. There's always one or two drivers that want to push the limits. I'll reiterate to the drivers on Tuesday when I'm back in to use the Cooks Ferry Roundabout both ways.

At the end of the day it is gained work regardless of the PVR… drivers are going on loan to TC to start off the SL5 and TC will gain the 410.

I don’t think Arriva should see the SL5 as this big sort of win - it hardly sets the world on fire. Why is everything Arriva given such snide remarks on the forum? the same with RAPT...... It's probably because Arriva are known to be having issues in tendering, when there's a raging fire going on do you pour a bottle of water on it and call it job done? It's a win, that's right. You want a win over no win at all, end of the day the bottle of water was better than no water at all. But you can't parade this win around and claim that there's been a massive resurgence at the company. The actual resurgence would be is if for example they retain all their existing work that's up and on top of that pick some 7 year contracts up with brand new buses. The SL2 only had one bidder despite both Stagecoach and Go Ahead have the space for the route so we'll never know if Arriva actually would have won that in a competitive round. Even the SF reopening is very tainted if AE had to close, even more so if Stagecoach move in next door. You've effectively given a competitor a garage with around 170-180 space a base right in the middle of Hackney. The one win I will give credit to Arriva for is the 76, that's a good win for them and they did well to win it back. The wins are good for Arriva, and for staff morale. But the point still stands, what's the point of parading around such relatively small wins when you have had the 157, 78, 133, 333 all go within the past few weeks. The 242 and 325 leaving in the next few weeks with only the SL2 and SL5 coming in, both on short contracts.

The 242 and 325 leaving in the next few weeks with only the SL2 and SL5 coming in, both on short contracts. There are no issues with tendering at all. It’s selective and sensible bidding and constantly Arriva & RATP are criticised for. Recently a lot of routes have only had 1 bidder which is a wake up call. Pretty much down to the tender system’s pathetic cost cutting measures that operators are pressured into… I really cannot say the Empire bid for everything anymore because recent tender results show everything however those who worship them make every excuse why they should have bid… In relation to Ash Grove well if Stagecoach take it then so it will be TFL own the site. Stagecoach operate mostly everything around there. The 78 is gone, 106 as well as the 168 that was there. In relation to your last paragraph small or big gain who cares because if it was any other operator no one would say anything, you were parading when we lost the 173. I guarantee you if we gained the 5 15 & 115 group which I highly doubt, many people would be angry like 50 194 250/N250 255 289 410 (663) 689 all retained… my last point at least some new buses will be entering service this year as usual the fanboys always complain nothing new is bought… however will find something else pathetic to complain about like they always do…

To be fair they are only nearly 12 years old and it is only short term I can’t believe we’re debating 2012 vehicles being old tbh 😭😭 I remember going on 2012 vehicles in London brand new like yesterday Those 12 reg ENX's are dreadful though, easily the SL5 will have the worst buses and that's even including the fact the SL3 will have LT's - least they can actually move at a decent pace. I’m holding out hope TC will clean out their filters when they go there. They seem to have kept their older ENX’s in good working order.

Route 254 is scheduled to move into [SF] on 24 February 2024, from this date [AE] would no longer be used. The 76 would be transferred to start at [SF] when won on 23 March 2024 It would have been a better nod to history had route 76 returned to AR and 149 reallocated to SF. I understand for historical reasons, but it makes better financial sense and route performing to keep it as now proposed.

If there are enough spare hybrids after the loss of routes 133/333 & 242, even after some are absorbed by routes SL2 & W3, I think these will be earmarked for potential 3-year retentions of routes in Romford or Bexleyheath. As it is, I think the average bus age in Romford is among the highest in London. Funny you say that, I just was thinking this week that the E400 on the 86 and 128 seemed new compared to the outgoing buses that were on it. It was not too long we still had the ALX400's on both routes. The E400's would only make a full 5 year allocation on the 86 sadly.

Ups and downs - and there is nothing particularly impressive about GAL in South London or TUK for that matter in terms of performance. Nobody’s parading around what are you going on about ?

I like vehicles. Buses, trains, cars, all of them. I made a song out of Stagecoach too.

To you it may not be much because the contract length is short, but what you fail to realise there is more money in it this way, the same as the school routes. As it is priced higher so there is more money to be made
