At this rate most of the routes in London should have their contracts terminated and a full restructure of the tender process needs to be reinitiated because these terms are seriously not sustainable anymore I don’t think the whole tender process needs restructuring. The reason for these routes getting handed back is just due to outside circumstances (massively inflated costs). Capitalomnibus posted a very interesting letter from Stagecoach yesterday explaining the handing back of the 55 and 56. Once they’ve been re tendered with realigned (ie much higher) costs to cover running the route there shouldn’t be any need to hand them back again any time soon. Unless another massive inflation surge is coming round the corner again (hopefully not!!) And that's exactly why it needs to be restructured. It was eventually going to catch up one way or another

Arriva better be planning to electrify N

Arriva better be planning to electrify N Why? The 63regs will be fine for a 3 year term and there would be no other reason to electrify N. If 45 or 118 were won, they'd go into BN. 68 uses LTs. 468 has compliant vehicles. Route 196 would be the only reason to electrify N if won.

Even if the 63reg are too old, Arriva could still use newer existing hybrids. HVs spare from the 34/41/243/341 will likely cover the 329 and GY/DX routes, but that still leaves the ex-SL1 HAs spare. And Norwood garage are already familiar with the similar HTs on the 202. However I could still see Arriva bid with electrics for the 432 if they want to get N wired up in advance of the 196/SL6 tender results.

I would not want to predict which routes will get HVs and HAs

Wouldn't the buses already on the 432 be OK?

A few things to mention here, the other day I saw T187 getting brand new blinds installed. They were rolling the rear blinds and I saw 612 then 689, not 663. I then saw today T190 half showing Croydon and the one above it Thornton Heath Clock Tower. They have been working on the electrification of TH all day today which may mean they will be working the weekend to get it finished.

Everyday I see a random T coming back to TH displaying Blank to Selsdon. I assume in the mornings the blind is either blank blank or blank, Wallington

The 2 and 249 were both retained at N with existing vehicles so I imagine the 432 and 468 would do the same

I've seen a report elsewhere that apparently 3 of the Streetdecks (SW2/3/4) have appeared at Arriva Merseyside's St Helens depot....not seen any pics or viewed them myself.

I know especially as the 412 operates in the area aswell that could cause confusion.
