I know where it had run from. Even when the route was first taken on by Stagecoach with the new TA's that were delivered without the rear swirls at [SD] the route was better then. But after [BW] then [WH] it gradually got flushed down the toilet. Was SD also known as WA (Waterden Road, near where there used to be the huge Sunday market) or was it a different garage? SD was a different garage to WA and it was solely to house the artics on the 25 I believe. No other route ran from there before the Olympic Development Committee compulsory purchased the land & turned Stratford to what it is now.

First H garage was also CPO-ed by the Olympic authorities I believe. I do wonder what would have happened had ELBG procured their own replacement garage instead of TfL doing so, like First did with LI. You have to wonder if they’d have ended up something cheaper to operate and more efficient in the long run than WH is/was.

The 55 reg were indeed the first Tridents since the X reg not to have swirls due to the tightening of the livery rules in London. This is why the cow horn was no longer on new Arriva deliveries from this point and why the First swirls and the big F’s in the front blind box was also no longer on new deliveries

To me it says it is owned by the DfT and leased to TfL

I know 128 batch of VLAs didn't have the cowhorn but I wasn't 100% sure if it did start from the 128 batch or if it was from one of your local routes I.e 432 or 249 (from that batch) I may need to dig through my old photos again.

It was definitely the 128 batch as those and the 159 batch were the only two batches not to ever wear cow horns. The 05 reg VLA's new to N for the 249 & 432 did have the cow horns

I just know Waterden Road garage was procured for the 25 operation as no other garage was big enough at the time to house the 18m buses. Unfortunately the prominent Stagecoach posters of the past are gone, as is a significant chunk of the Stagecoach thread which had that archive information. All I can say from memory as I had just moved to the country at the time was Waterden Road had three garages (H, SA, WA) and I believe WA was almost directly opposite First's Hackney garage.

I personally see the 123 being retained by Arriva using electrics. The 158 on the other hand, I personally hope it goes back home to Stagecoach, not saying Arriva have done a bad job at operating it though. Just seems a bit odd seeing only 1 Arriva route at Stratford, when now it is typically dominated by Blue Triangle and East London. I would only like to see Arriva retain the 158 probably because I have huge bias with oddball operators in London, as imo these kinds of routes certainly make their rare operator presences in unexpected areas interesting and this route is no exception. Same reason as to why I was glad that route 125 was retained with RATP, as I enjoy seeing their rare presence in and around areas of the Enfield borough, far from their territory towards the east of London. Another honourable mention goes to the 367 which I hope Abellio retains in its next contract to continue to give Bromley a fresher flavour from all of the other Go-Ahead and Stagecoach buses running there, as well as addition of two Arriva routes. Likewise, the 335 in North Greenwich / Blackheath / kidbrooke

But after [BW] then [WH] it gradually got flushed down the toilet. Was SD also known as WA (Waterden Road, near where there used to be the huge Sunday market) or was it a different garage? They were two separate garages. [SD] was industrial land and I am struggling to remember the businesses that were there. Think part of it had a night club I remember. [SD] opened in 1993. It was initialy a low cost midi bus base. Running MRL, SR drafted in from other garages. This also indirectly saw the closure of the original [WH]. [SD] was beside the Sunday market where the old Hackney Dog stadium was. They did rebuilkd the dog stadium in the 1990's with a new building but the Sunday market remained until police did their best to get it closed in the early 2000's due to too much illegal activity. Capital Citybus later opened [H] also on Waterden Road at the former Tibbet & Britten HGV premises in 1996. This was directly opposite the dog track. This saw it take on routes that were at [DM] and [NP] and allowed the company to expand further. When Stagecoach won the 25 as bendy buses there was no garage suitable to operate them on such a high pvr without a mass clear out of other routes. So Stagecoach decided to buy Hackney Council welfare vehicle base on Waterden Road which was beside Capital Citybus. This was in 2004. It was also used to house the training fleet and later private hire moved there from [NS] until the first LEZ saw many companies like Stagecoach, Arriva etc abandon the coaches and other buses used for private hire. I cannot remember if the LCY shuttle buses operated from there for the last few months instead of [SD]. [WA] was also then used to house the training school and new BTEC courses that would eventually be replaced by CPC
