I'd keep the 16 as is, increase the frequency, withdraw the 332 and extend the 316 to Brent Park. If I was to change the 460 it would be to extend it eastwards but then I think it should still support the 13 & 260 I like the idea of having the 460 between Cricklewood and Barnet, however the extra capacity probably isn't needed between North Finchley and Barnet. One option could be to cut the 263 back to North Finchley - this would break some links towards East Finchley, but introduce some new ones towards Golders Green - the lengthly 263 also parallels the Northern line to some extent, the 234 also links to East Finchley and Highgate, and there's the hopper fare. Or another alternative could be to keep the 263/460 unchanged, and cut the 260 back to Cricklewood/Willesden? The 263 works as it is - hence why you should try and get the 460 to help the 221 out which has overcrowding issues

As someone who goes to this area a lot and uses both routes, it is very clear that the 189 is busier. Abbey Road first of all has its wealthier residents and then those on council blocks, but the people of the wealthier I assure do not use TFL buses. And looking at people who use the buses they are looking for local high streets which is what the 189 does. Abbey Road to Marble Arch/Kilburn/Cricklewood/Brent Cross etc. My point is the 189 is much busier because it takes people to where they want to go. So I slightly agree but you extend the 189 to Oxford Circus and axe the 139 instead. You would still have to replace the Abbey Road - West Hampstead section though, and also Oxford Circus - Waterloo which could be done by extending the 94 or rerouting the 176 from Trafalgar Square to Oxford Circus. I would instead suggest to keep the 139/328 unchanged, but still withdraw the 189, by extending the 16 to Brent Cross - the 332 could perhaps divert via Abbey Road. I'll leave this to Volvo because he drove the 139 and he may know where the route gets busy. @greg, the busiest section of the 139 in Central london is from Waterloo to Baker Street from my observations, so I would keep the 139 as it is between Abbey Road and Waterloo, and then there could be some changes on the northern end.

Suggestions to reduce some services around Greenwich and Bermondsey: 1/188 - Routes merged, operating from Aldwych or Waterloo, via route 1 to Surrey Quays, then the 188 to North Greenwich. 129 - Extended from Cutty Sark to Bellingham via route 199. 178/291 - Routes merged (using the 291 routeing between Woolwich and Queen Elizabeth Hospital). Frees up some stand space in Woolwich, and slightly reduces the corridor to the south of Woolwich. Fixed stand introduced at Plumstead Common (at Dothill Road). 180 - Revised as planned to operate between North Greenwich and Erith. 199 - Withdrawn between Bellingham and Cutty Sark, instead extended to Woolwich via the 177/180. Possible frequency reduction to every 15 minutes. Reduces service over the Greenwich-Woolwich corridor, while still providing assistance to the 177. Other changes for South East London: 61 - Withdrawn between Chislehurst and Orpington, instead extended to Ramsden Estate via the R9 (with the R9 withdrawn). 126 - Extended from Eltham High Street (no longer serving Southend Crescent) to Woolwich via route 161. Converted to DDs. Provides a new link between Woolwich and Bromley. 161 - Withdrawn between North Greenwich and Eltham, and rerouted to terminate at Southend Crescent (126 stand). Extended from Chislehurst to Orpington Station via route 61. In regards to the 1 & 188, Waterloo is a poor terminus when coming from the south due to the fact that you would have to miss out the first stop on the return journey. Aldwych is going through changes as well. Personally, I’d cut it back to Elephant (stand space permitting) and leave the 1 as it is I don’t think merging the 178 & 291 together is a good idea - this looks like another let’s just stick routes together for the sake of it idea. As others have said, extending the 161 southwards would overbus the section between Chislehurst & Orpington when the 61 itself is quiet along there. The R9 provides a high frequency link with Orpington so the 61 would present a considerable step back if it replaced the R9. The 126 idea is good but not at the expense of the 161.

I think the 188 is defo doomed at some point to be shortened. The journey time is up to 83 mins long which probably puts off many through passengers anyways. Probably only the touristy link to Greenwich that has maintained it from central London.

Do you think these ideas can work 185 Lewisham to Battersea rerouted instead of Victoria 436 rerouted and extended to Paddington. reduce the frequency of Route 36 slightly.

Here are some of my proposals for bus routes in Uxbridge: Route | Start | End | Decking | Frequency | Contract | 278 | Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 | Ruislip Station | DD | 12 | Current contract | 350 | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Moved to 351 | 351 | Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 | West Drayton | SD | 20 | From 350 | 489 | Uxbridge | Rickmansworth | SD | 30 | New contract | A10 | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Moved to X10 | E6 | Hayes & Harlington | Greenford | DD | 12 | Current contract | H98 | Brunel University | Hounslow | DD | 10 | Current contract | U1 | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Moved to U11 | U2 | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Withdrawn | Moved to U8 | U3 | Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 | Uxbridge | SD | 20 | Current contract
| U4 | Ruislip High Street | Prologis Park | SD | 10 | Current contract
| U5 | Southall | Uxbridge | DD | 12 | Current contract
| U8 | Pinewood Studios | Ruislip Gardens | SD | 12 | From U2 | U9 | Harefield Hospital | Uxbridge | SD | 30 | Current contract | U11 | Bulls Bridge | Hayes End | SD | 12 | From U1 | U13 | Heathrow Terminal 5
| Uxbridge | SD | 20 | New contract | X10 | Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 | Uxbridge | DD | 20 | From A10 |
The A10 would be converted to express, renumbered X10. The 278 would terminate in the previous U1 stand at Ruislip and the U4 would stand in the previous 278 stand. There would be two routes running along the U9 corridor, the U9 and 489. The 489 would extend to Rickmansworth via Maple Cross and Park Lane. The U9 would no longer serve Park Lane. Tbh the 139 is very busy even from Golders Green depending on time of day but most heavily used between West Hampstead and Waterloo. Btw I have definitely found the 139 busier than the 189 especially towards Central. So I would more go with the option of extending the 16 to Brent Cross and cutting the 189 rather than divert the 139.

do you know which routes will get cut yet. All we know for now is that TfL is looking for savings, and one of the things they are looking at is reducing bus mileage by around 4%. Any cuts would fall mostly on Central London routes, with frequency reductions favoured over the withdrawal of complete routes - a typical cut might be from 8 buses per hour to 6 buses an hour, or from every 7-8 minutes to every 10 minutes. Suburban bus routes are much less likely to be affected and some may even see small increases. It is also noted that any cuts could be reversible if and when the economy starts to recover and passenger numbers pick up again, which is why frequency reductions would be preferable to wholesale removal of routes. TfL won't want to inflict too much damage on the network as buses are an important part of the move towards sustainable transport and emissions reduction.

Similar to the 134 which was pulled back to the boundary of zone 1, I wouldn't be surprised if the 189 was found space at Baker Street with the 74 taking the 189 space at Marble Arch. As someone said I think tfl look at Corridors and Marble Arch to Baker Street is well served. I think the 2, 13, 30, 113 and 274 are likely to stay which throw in the 139 from Selfridges Baker Street would still be well served.
The 189 would still have plenty of demand mopping up from Baker Street to Abbey Road area, linking Abbey Road with Kilburn/Cricklewood and Kilburn and Brent Cross to easily survive a cut back.
