Tbh I think the 414 could be finished within 2 years, there's hardly any point of it, it doesn't really have any unique links apart from Marble Arch to Fulham Broadway and Putney Bridge I don't think the 414 has ever had a great deal of purpose quite honestly. I think the 414 has had a terrible reputation on this forum that isn't entirely deserved. I've used it plenty of times and it gets busy, I've seen 14s ahead of 414s yet the 414 is the one picking people up. Plus there are multiple instances where I have seen 414s southbound coming into Marble Arch quite busy. Of course I can't argue with official TfL statistics saying it is useless beyond Marble Arch although I don't think it is fair to say it's never had much purpose.

There was also the 205 and 705 at the same time. The 205 thrived whereas the 705 was withdrawn pretty quickly. Wasn’t the 705 linked to the SL1 & SL2? Yes it was the southern section of it. Calling at just the mainline stations between Paddington and Liverpool Street aswell at St Thomas' hospital. It was probably assumed to be obsolete pretty quickly due to all low floor buses linking the stations such as the 436 from Paddington to Victoria, the 11 L'Pool St to Blackfriars, Charing Cross and Victroia etc.

Thou the diversions of the 6 and 23 have effectively duplicated some of the unique links to the 414 such as the 6 now running down to HP Corner and the 23 from Edgware Road to Knightsbridge.

Have we not been here before with the 94 and 148?
I still remember how much I was mocked and accused of being somehow connected to Tower Transit because I was happy for them winning the 414 and retaining the 13! Yet here we are and the route starts a new tender next week when it was suggested by some here that might not happen.
Yes I an aware the route could be withdrawn at a later date!

Tbh i was happy when Tower Transit lost the 328 to Metroline - i feel that Metroline's interior seating pattern is superior to Tower Transit's

TT have made pretty good efforts though in recent months to receiving new routes such as the 135, 414 and 678 and a retain on the 13. I also felt that Metroline has just become very bland purely because of how much there is, Tower Transit is definitely something out-of-the-ordinary so I do miss them.

Exactly, if the 414 ever had any purpose it certainly doesn't now and if cuts are necessary routes like this should be the first to go.

The forum can be a strange place on occasions.

I honestly can't wait for a south London route to come up for a cut. I bet your reaction won't be the same!

Tower Transit's seating is stale - if I was catching a bus and there was a choice between a Metroline route and a Tower Transit route, I'd go for the Metroline route 10 times out of 10

I think the 414 has other purposes it could fulfill, perhaps it be adapted on the southern end and cutback to South Kensington? I'd agree it would be worthless running it north of Knightsbridge because of changes to the 6/23.
I rather liked the idea of a 414 between South Kensington and Tooting, The Mitre running every 12 minutes with a 270 running alongside between Wandsworth (could in future reach Riverside Quarter) and Thornton Heath Clock Tower (helping the 152 out and establishing a Pollards Hill to Thornton Heath link).

No I was joking, but I don't really like the interiors of Tower Transit vehicles

Could possibly run the 414 from Putney Bridge to Russell Square and curtail the 14 at Piccadilly Circus and extend it to Roehampton, withdraw the 430 and extend the 190 to South Kensington and increase the 74 frequency. I think extending the 152 to Thornton Heath High Street would be potentially useful.
