Restructure idea for the Wembley area:
224 - Withdrawn, mostly replaced by revised route 223. Alperton & Stonebridge Park links covered by the 79, 440 and 487.
H17 - Extended from Harrow to Wealdstone, via the 223 to Harrow View, double running to the roundabout at the redevelopment, then via Headstone Drive to Wealdstone. Also extended from Wembley Central to Wembley Stadium (former 224 stand), to better serve Wembley High Road and the Stadium area.
223 - Cut back to Harrow again. Withdrawn between Wembley Central and Wembley Park, instead extended to Park Royal (Twyford Abbey), via the 206 to Brent Park, double run to St Raphaels Estate, then the 224. Terminating either on Iveagh Avenue or Twyford Abbey Road. Providing new links from Harrow/Kenton to Brent Park, and from Wembley Park to St Raphaels.
440 - Rerouted in Wembley to terminate at The Paddocks, replacing the 206.
206 - Revised to operate between Wembley Central (current 223/H17 stand) and Kilburn Park, via the 297 to Neasden, 16 to Brent Park Tesco, then current route to Kilburn Park. Fully converted to DDs. Could also divert in Willesden to directly serve the High Road, via St Andrews Road instead of Chambers Lane. Replaces part of the 297, while introducing a local link between Blackbird Hill and Brent Park, and linking Neasden to Harlesden.
297 - Revised to operate between Ealing Broadway and Brent Cross, via current route to Wembley Central, then the 182. Frequency increased to every 10 minutes.
92 - Extended from Brent Park to Willesden Bus Garage, via the 16 to Neasden, then the 297. Introduces a link between Neasden Station and Ikea.
182 - Withdrawn between Brent Cross and Wembley, instead extended via the 18 to Harlesden, continuing to terminate at Willesden Junction Station, and eventually to Old Oak Common. To support the 18 between Sudbury and Harlesden, plus linking Old Oak Common to the Wembley area.

Quite how a route which suffers from severe traffic congestion at the best of times will help out another on an extension through more congested areas is not explained.

If the 92 needs helping out, just add a few extra buses to its allocation. Another 4 on the PVR should get it up to every 8 minutes*. * once the temporary timetable is withdrawn - currently the route is on a slightly reduced frequency due to roadworks.

Some ideas to improve links around Barnet:
299 - Extended from Cockfosters to Barnet via the 384, introducing a direct link between Barnet and Southgate, and a slight increase in capacity between Barnet and Cockfosters. Terminating at Quinta Drive as the 384 did previously.
84B (non-TFL) - Withdrawn. Revised 384 below offers a more frequent TFL service between Barnet and Potters Bar, maintaining links to High Barnet Station and Barnet Hospital. I don't think an hourly service is sufficient in linking two major towns close by to each other.
384 - Restructured to operate between Edgware and Potters Bar. Via existing route from Edgware to Arkley, direct to Barnet Hospital, then Tinder Road, Chesterfield Road, Mays Lane, Underhill, Barnet Hill and High Barnet Station back to Barnet Town Centre, then Hadley Green, Kitts End Road and Baker Street to Potters Bar Station, either terminating there or continuing round to the bus garage.
184 - With the revised 384 serving Chesterfield Road in Barnet, cut back slightly to terminate within the Dollis Valley Estate.
326 - Double run to the Dollis Valley Estate removed, making the route more direct.
389/399 - Merged to operate as one route, allowing passengers in the Hadley Wood area to travel beyond The Spires, particularly to High Barnet Station. Also revised to serve Western Way as a double run, then continuing to restore a service to some of the local roads around Lyonsdown Road, terminating at New Barnet Station (with all stand time taken there). Option to also increase frequency or operating hours slightly.
34 - With the SL1 being introduced, withdrawn between Walthamstow and Edmonton, revised to terminate at Meridian Water. New route introduced to replace the Walthamstow end, offering some new links across the Lea Valley, perhaps via Edmonton Green and onwards to the north (similar structure to the 140/278/SL9 changes).

I do not see the point of the 34 into Meridian Water, way over exaggerated and there is barely even any footfall. For the upcoming tender the 192 has some options of route restructuring.

Also revised to serve Western Way as a double run, then continuing to restore service to some of the local roads around Lyonsdown Road, terminating at New Barnet Station (with all stand time taken there). Option to also increase frequency or operating hours slightly. 34 - With the SL1 being introduced, withdrawn between Walthamstow and Edmonton, revised to terminate at Meridian Water. The new route was introduced to replace the Walthamstow end, offering some new links across the Lea Valley, perhaps via Edmonton Green and onwards to the north (similar structure to the 140/278/SL9 changes). 1. Extending the 299 to Barnet won't form a direct link to Southgate. I'd argue a journey on the 125/382 to Hampden Square and changing to the 184 will still end up more direct than your proposal. 2. The whole purpose of the 326 serving Dollis Valley estate is to allow a direct link to New Barnet and High Barnet, it's specially designed to cater for users from the estate. Whilst you propose replacing it with the 184, you effectively break the direct New Barnet link that's unique and establishes the 326's purpose. 3. We need to also acknowledge there's the local demand for users who need to reach Walthamstow on a route that's been well-established for decades. I don't think it would be wise to suddenly break those journeys over the SL1 being introduced. Remember the SL1's purpose wasn't just to form faster journeys, but to form additional capacity. There are many ongoing developments such as Meridian Water alongside growing populations in Walthamstow and Edmonton where more services are required to cater for the new demand. The 34 is already at capacity in the peaks, especially between Edmonton and Walthamstow, so I'm glad more services are invested in that corridor. Though if we are going back to the Barnet area, what I would personally find more useful is extending the 34 to Arkley Hotel for Barnet Hospital to be accessed.

Only one comment as others have already spoken about the rest of the routes but the 389 & 399 already allows passengers in Hadley Wood to travel beyond The Spires as the 389 & 399 interwork into each other and I know of this (not through information online) because I've done it for myself. 389's & 399's turn into one another at The Spires without the need to alight.

Locally the 389 / 399 drivers allow passengers to remain on board if travelling across The Spires. In any case if they were asked to alight and re-board it would come within the Hopper fare and cost them no more. There is no sensible stand point at either of Hadley Wood or Western Way without inconveniencing those who board the bus farther back around the loop workings but The Spires is usually congested with buses sometimes having to double-park in order to load and leave on time. It should be possible to run through The Spires without stand time if the bus stood at Western Way even though that may delay a few passengers who board along Sherrards Way. Likewise if there was a need to "lose" a few minutes then Hadley Wood Station is an option despite the slight time penalty for those on board. I suspect hours of operation are determined by other contracts. Are the drivers' duties linked to school workings? As already stated the 326 serves a very specific purpose with Dollis Valley Estate and should be left alone. Other routes offer the direct option. The issue with the 84B is that TfL and the London Borough of Barnet have failed to reach any agreement on funding a route which operates for the most part in Hertfordshire. The 84 was withdrawn because it was no longer commercially viable (and was basically half-hourly having been cut from quarter-hourly) suggesting there isn't a lot of demand over that corridor. The 84B is funded by Hertfordshire and can only just cope with one bus. Any late running can be reflected across the rest of the day's service. It is used by a small number of regulars and occasional travellers but it needs to improve its patronage in order to survive in the longer term. TfL would in all probability not be in a position to restore a "red bus" service out to Potters Bar. The 298 hangs on by being well-enough used. Before we had zones and under LT there were "out-county" fares charged on routes which crossed then then Greater London boundary. The standard LT scale applied until that point was reached but beyond it a higher scale applied. That would be possible to do with tag-on-tag-off (TOTO); it replies upon more on-board bus equipment but such a system is used by numerous operators else where in the country. Currently that would mean a fare of £1.75 applied on the 84B between Barnet and Monken Hadley but £2 for cross-border journeys and local trips in Hertfordshire. TOTO doesn't work with the TfL one-fare touch-on only system. If the 84 were restored to Barnet then suitably-equipped buses could be used. TfL passes and Travelcards would not be valid beyond Monken Hadley unless a commercial agreement existed with Herts for their acceptance as far as Potters Bar. I would leave the 34 as it now is. Traffic patterns have yet to settle down following the introduction of the Superloop. There is no need whatsoever for more buses into the Angel Road superstores. The ones already there are very lightly used. It seems to be a ghost town.

In the latest tendering programme update last month, it has formally been merged into one contract.
