Withdraw the 468 between South Croydon and West Croydon. Extend it from Elephant and Castle to Waterloo. What would be the point? There is no stand space at West Croydon and there are plenty of buses between Elephant & Castle and Waterloo. Agreed it is very pointless. The current arrangement works. Plus the 68 already goes via Waterloo.

another idea is axe the 250 and divert the 198 at Thornton heath station and extend it to streatham Doesn't make much sense but a better idea for extending the 198 would be to extend it over the 60 to Streatham via Pollards Hill and divert the 60 to Thornton Heath High Street where the 198 terminates now. Probably a better idea given the southern end of the 60 is longer than the 198s.

There are other routes that terminate at West Croydon that could be extended to south Croydon or changed to stand at Hogarth Crescent. Would allow frequency reduction on other routes and allow completion of journey for people between Croydon and West Norwood without changing buses. Most people get off at St Mary’s Church / West Croydon and cross the road. The 468 is the best route for the South Croydon terminus long trunk route and sometimes West Croydon can be a pain to get through when too many cars are there… No idea where some of these random idea are dreamt up when the current arrangements work.

I think this would be a good idea, but the 60 is slightly more frequent than the 198, so depends how busy it gets north of Thornton Heath

The bus structure around Croydon is working well for the most part. The only things that I think need tweaking are that the 166 should have remained on its old route; the 466 could probably be reduced in frequency a bit & a Croydon-Orpington route could be useful, but this would likely be most effective as a limited stop express route.
Some good news for the area around Tooting/Clapham/Brixton though: many sources including London connected are saying the 355 will be receiving electric DD’s rather than electric SD’s on the route.

If it only went to Streatham like mentioned it would still be within the bounds of a reliable cycle time I suspect. Other reasons don't make it a good idea I imagine there are actually quite large amounts of people travelling between Brixton & Croydon considering that the 109 is one of the busiest routes in London. The 109 wouldn’t survive without the high frequency 250 & other routes (e.g 50 & 60) also wouldn’t cope well. The 250 loads very well, at times it's even as busy as the 109. Brixton to Croydon and in particular, Brixton to Streatham is very popular by bus because to do it by rail is awkward. Had there been a direct rail link along the corridor, the 109 would probably not need the 250 but Green Lane would still need a route into Streatham & Croydon so probably a 250 running from Streatham to Purley would exist in that hypothetical situation.

Besides a lot of these blogs can barely be counted as sources, a lot of the information is a mixture of wishful thinking and just utter bullshit. Unless there is a TfL correction issued with the next tender as far as i am concerned the 355 is on for SDs.

Besides a lot of these blogs can barely be counted as sources, a lot of the information is a mixture of wishful thinking and just utter bullshit. Unless there is a TfL correction issued with the next tender as far as i am concerned the 355 is on for SDs. Ironically it would have been easier had it just stayed a hybrid award with the length issues and the Me's problems of late.

Even if the 250 wasn’t needed north of Streatham, I’m not sure if there is really a lot of benefit of sending it to Purley. 278: extended from Ruislip to Northwood via Station Approach, Pembroke Road, Windmill Hill, Eastcote Road, High Road Eastcote, Joel Street, route 282 to Green Lane and Station Approach. Well Tfl are sending the E7 to Bishop Ramsey High School I think that the 278 shoukd go that direction instead and go further to Northwood so to link the Watford / Amersham / Chesham branch of the Metropolitan line with the Uxbridge branch of Piccadilly and Metrolpolitan Line and with Heathrow and Hayes. H16: new route running between Long Elms and Wood End via Long Elms, route H18 to Harrow, route 183 to Pinner Road, Station Road, North Harrow Station, Imperial Drive, Rayners Lane, Rayners Lane Station, Village Way, Eastern Avenue, North View, Eastcote Station, Elm Avenue, Park Way, Ruislip Manor Station, Pembroke Road, Station Approach, Wood End Road, Ruislip Gardens, route E7 to Ruislip Road, Kensington Road, route E10 to Ealing Road, Mandeville Road, route 395 to The Fairway, Oldfield Circus, Whitton Avenue West, Wood End Lane and route 398 to Wood End. To maintain links lost from the H18/19 and to act as relief for the E7. H17: extended from Harrow to Harrow Weald via route H18. Converted to double deck. To maintain links lost by the H18/H19. H18/H19: Discontinued.

Extend the 40 to lower Sydenham, via the 176 to Forest Hill then the 356 to bell green Sainsbury’s. It gives lower Sydenham a direct route to central London.
