I have heard that although a number of recent tender awards had tba against the fleet (whilst TfL attempts to sort out its funding) there is now high likelihood that any new buses won’t be until end of 2023 or delivered until 2024 The simple reason is that TfL have specified zero emission and other operators around the country are placing orders in meantime National Express has 130 BYD-ADL E400EVs for Coventry Stagecoach has 170 double deck EVs for Stockport / Manchester First has l74 E200EVs on order for Glasgow and Aberdeen There are 159 funded buses for Oxford (GoAhead and Stagecoach) type unknown There are 100 hydrogen double decks and 24 hydrogen artics for Birmingham Blackpool has 57 double and 58 single deck electrics Nottingham has 12 12m & 68 10.8m single deck electrics Arriva has 47 electric deckers for West Yorkshire 64 electric single decks for West Yorkshire, (32 each for First and Transdev) First has 44 electric single decks for York 41 electric buses for McGills in Scotland 39 buses (19 double, 20 single) for Transdev for Leeds/Harrogate 39 electric buses for Western buses of Scotland 34 single decks for First in Portsmouth 32 electric buses for Fife 32 electric buses being delivered for Cardiff 26 electric buses for Ember Core in Scotland 23 12m for Stagecoach in Rotherham And lots of smaller orders Obviously any orders placed ahead of those by London Operators are going to be earlier in build queues It's also likely that TfL's own future vehicle procurement policies will see more and more routes converting well into the contract. That has been TfL's thinking for a while. Obviously a lot will depend on a long-term funding agreement being settled, but TfL's preferred strategy is to convert on a depot-by-depot basis rather than individual routes, as that potentially yields significant economies. The big problem for TfL is the looming bulge of buses getting to old In 2009 and 2011 both had over 1100 new buses Can’t find the original figures, but using 2016 fleet audit 1103 buses introduced in 2009, 802 in 2010, 1145 in 2011, 984 in 2012 Latest (from 31 Mar 2021 fleet audit) 738 buses from 2009 remain, 634 from 2010, 901 from 2011, 873 from 2012 So between 2023 and 2026 about 3000 buses will reach 14 years old Of course the age limit can be flexed, but ignoring any detail still a lot of buses to replace There are about 100 buses due in next 3 months Then about 50 due in second half of 2022 Negligible quantity yet confirmed for 2023 As lead time seems to be 15-24 months that probably means not many more until end of 2023, or 2024, then there will be 3 years needing about 1000 buses per month, which is roughly the equivalent of converting a whole garage every month or two for 36 months

Expecting if there are any new vehicles requirements for March and April tender awards, most if not all should become apparrent tomorrow as the LOTS TLBs drop.

The latest LOTs TLB is reporting 110 new electric buses ordered on page 23, with types and allocations. But as a courtesy to LOTs subscribers, I will not detail them.

I have shared information from TLB before but not normally on the publication day and it’s usually information that’s already been discussed. Think brand new information such as new orders is a bit different.

Absolutely, it’s why I’ve not bothered to renew my membership in years though I was shocked that they had a mini card reader for their stall at the SW running day though a number of the staff didn’t know how to work it

That’s not the point I was making, we pay for information but if it’s online as soon as it’s published what’s the point in anyone being a member? I get that, I’m just providing a reason as to why I’m not keen to sign up for LOTS. I certainly don’t expect the information for free unless it is shared unprompted. I would never ask for it as I’ve never paid for it.

It’s the only operator who would have even close to that many vehicle requirements through new contracts.
