With isolation now in place I thought it may be a good idea to set up a thread where we can discuss our favourite podcast and box sets.
Podcast. My first choice is the travel hacker podcast with Richie Firth from Absolute Radio. This podcast is all about looking at travel hacks that you can do, the first episode involves them getting a train to Southampton and then a plane to Manchester to see if it faster than getting the train from Euston.
My second choice is the Ian Wright episode on the Dessert Island Discs. This is a great listen even if you're not a football fan. The way he talks about his teacher is amazing.
My third choice is the Serial Podcast. Won't say too much about this because it's a crime podcast and it may not be best to to put it on here but if you like that kind of stuff then give it ago. First series has 12 episodes.
Box Sets.
Going to keep this comedy based for now.
The Office. Both Uk and USA versions of the show. Different but both as good as each other imo. The US version of the show has been taken off Netflix but I'm sure there are others ways to see the show.
The IT Crowd. Very funny show looking at life of an IT department in an office
Friday night dinner. A brilliant series that involves the Goodman Family coming together for friday night dinner. unfortunately it never goes to plan and something is always going wrong. New series begins on Friday as well.
Sorry for the long post but if you have any shows or podcast you recommended please put them on this thread.

Lee Mack from Not Going Out is also very good on What I lie to you. Second Not Going Out - have watched all but the last series because I accidentally missed it. Also, Lee Mack is one of fave comedians ever since I watched him in The Sketch Show in the late 90's Others I'd recommend is: IT Crowd Inbetweeners Red Dwarf 8 out of 10 Cats 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown Would I Lie to You

My favourite 2 podcast series of recent times: 1. The Cryptoqueen - Amazing series uncovering information about one of the biggest ever global ponzi schemes that incredibly still continues to this day. The Cryptoqueen, Ruja Ignatova, makes Bernie Madoff look like a saint. The intriguing thing about this podcast is that events evolve in real time week by week. New witnesses and victims come forward and evidence emerges that was previously unknown. Police moved with more urgency after this podcast. The presenters do an excellent job of presenting the facts, adapting to an evolving scenario whilst keeping things entertaining from a story telling perspective. This is my top choice because it unveiled fraud on a scale of billions affecting people all over the world, that somehow slipped under the radar of much of the main stream media. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07nkd84/episodes/guide2. The Dropout - Documentary of the infamous Elizabeth Holmes. Elizabeth Homes founded a healthcare company called Theranos and claimed to have invented a machine that could run hundreds of tests on a single drop of blood. Major investors poured money into the company and the world fell in love with a woman who was described as the next Steve Jobs. Except it was one big lie. Whilst The Dropout doesn’t reveal much that wasn’t already known about the scam, it does a great job of examining how Holmes was able to dupe so many very clever people for so long. I believe this podcast serves as a warning to investors and the public at large as we navigate through a “fake it ‘til you make it” culture. abcaudio.com/podcasts/the-dropout/

Podcast. The Extremities podcast is very good, it looks out why and how people live on the worlds most isolated and extreme settlements. The first series talks about the islands of Pitcairn which is in the middle of the Southern Pacific Ocean in the middle of nowhere. The nearest closest city is Auckland which is 3000 Miles away which is the same distance as Boston is to London. The third series is about the island of St Helena which in 2016 got an airport which ended 500 years of isolation and cut travel time from 6 days on a boat to 6 hours on a plane. There is a youtube video about the airport. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-QejUTDCWw&t=446s

Anything that had Stephen Bochcos name on it-Hill St Blues, NYPD blue,All the Law and Order series. I've watch it from episode one, never seen a bad one. With the 'SVU' series, I'm amazed how mature US TV has become, dealing in subjects that years ago would give the producers heart attacks! Not forgetting Jim Rockford. Garner was classic.

I'd be interested to hear of any good transport podcasts. It feels like this is an topic that is a bit underrepresented.

Not a podcast, but there was an interesting episode of Panorama a couple of weeks ago on the national bus crisis. I didn’t see it covered elsewhere in the forum, so I’ll add it here: Panorama, Britain’s Bus Crisis: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000ggpr via @bbciplayer
