Another change that wasn't to be is the 413/S3 changes from the Sutton/Croydon consultation - these changes were very good but I suspect they didn't go ahead because they financially weren't worth it. I suspect it has more to do with the continued delays to the new hospital up there. I reckon it will be revisited in the future if and when hospital construction starts. At the moment it is still in the planning stages with a design not even signed off. Its possible the S4 still running to Sutton and now every 20 mins means the need for the higher frequency of the 413 wasn't needed so much. Had the changes gone ahead then the 413 would have been the only route from the door of the Royal Marsden and from Banstead Road into Sutton.

That's probably true, although in my opinion the 413/S3 changes were much better than the S4 increase for the Belmont and Carshalton Beeches areas. As an alternative solution, I would have suggested the planned 413/S3 changes going ahead, with the 455 retained between Wallington and West Croydon, S2 introduced as planned and the S4 remaining as a half hourly service between Sutton and Roundshaw.

The Orpington consultation just got published with most of the proposals not going ahead. The R2 is no longer being withdrawn & R1/R3 routes will remain as they are now. The R6/B14 changes may still go ahead but that’s currently unclear at the moment.

Most definitely the 82 being withdrawn what a stupid mistake there was nothing wrong with 3 bus routes travelling along to Swiss Cottage. Those being 13 to Aldwych, 82 to Victoria and 113 to Marble Arch instead only 2 buses now run in that section now with buses that are not suitable for that are 10.5m based off the B5LHs, however this is my opinion on those MCVs.

The 13 was arguably doomed when the plans for Oxford Street came about and the 139 was the decided route for the Baker Street to Aldwych corridor. Whilst I don't deny there have been odd occasions where a gap in service etc has caused crowding, iv been on the Finchley Road many times where the current 13 and 113 have been far from even half full so I do think the current arrangement meets demand along with the 139/189 with the 274 supporting between Park Road and Selfridges.

A personal favourite in this vein was a plan for the 380 back when Duke Humphrey Road across Blackheath was first going to be closed off. It would have run into the Village as now but then served Southvale Road, Baizdon Road, Eliot Vale, Aberdeen Terrace and Eliot Hill. Baizdon Road has a fair few council properties so there was probably demand but it would have been a tight squeeze for a Metrorider let alone today's vehicles. In the event, the width restriction on Tranquil Vale was modified instead.

I agree I think the Finchley Road Corridor demand has reduced overtime & the capacity it has now is sufficient. TfL would have definitely taken reducing that corridor too far though if the 113/189 reroutings to replace the 31 had gone ahead, the 13 & 139 would then definitely not be able to cope on their own, adding the withdrawal of the 74 as well would have been even worse. Personally the only thing I would change about the Finchley Road corridor would be to send the 113 back to Oxford Circus, would provide more capacity there & also reduce crowding at the stands in Marble Arch.
