I've been informed that a strong possibility stands of new Wrightbus vehicles will be the Son of the Routemaster - a.k.a the SRM. Also - on Joe Bamford's Hydrogen Rise website it indicates a possibility of the next generation of Wrightbus vehicles being the Son of the Routemaster (SRM). Operators currently lease the New Routemasters (NRM) from TFL - the SRM will be the individual operators choice whether to lease or purchase. This will compete with ADL's EnviroEV400 City vehicles - and the new SRM will with no doubt be zero emission. My thoughts on this: I'm not a fan of the New Routemaster (NRM) and many enthusiasts share the same opinion - and the SRM is basically the same vehicles without the 3'rd door - but does carry the same design and interior. Edit: please view this FOI about SRM etc tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-2615-1718Thanks in advance

You are at least consistent when posting how you dont like LTs Just a few points that FOI is from 2018 and the original question was asked in 2017. That was about trial SRM buses and no more where ordered. Also since the Wrightbus went into administration and then taken over by Bamford.

Personally, I find the seats uncomfortable and still incredibly hot especially during the hot weather and even with windows open due to the ineffective cooling system they have - heat even radiates out of the wall panels at times, something I only recall on buses with a engine shelf! Many of the early ones seem to have issues and can go missing for months on end compared to the later ones and the most useful feature they had being 3 doors was then removed. I also think they look pretty ugly personally - for me, I can't think of a worse double decker I've used.

Their three door boarding was the only good thing and that's being removed now, all they're going to be is standard deckers which are uncomfortable, hot and can carry less people.

From a drivers pov the only positive about LTs is they are quick. Other than that I wish they never existed.

Why does everyone hate LTs so much? They aren’t the worst... I'm one of the few people on here who do like the LT's, I do really like the sound of the motor of a LT and the door closing sound especially when the middle & rear doors both close at the same time

I'd plump for any Streetdeck over that - at least when riding the 25's WH's, I had decent seats and wasn't baked to death plus I also prefer the sound of a Streetdeck over the LT's boring hybrid sound and that stupid motor that randomly comes on every now and then.

LT's should be re coded VP for Vanity Project I like the interior design, but it does feel too dingy inside, ceilings feel a little too low, and sesting uncomfortable. Wrightbus tried to flog this dead horse before on it's world tour where virtually every market said, "nah, it's alright mate, we're good" and bought none. Trials in Scotland and Yorkshire were no better. There was talk of a diesel SRM, basically a Streetdeck in drag, but if they use that pathetic 4 pot Streetlite engine, they shouldn't bother. Talking of Streetdecks, I wonder if that 6 cylinder engine version was ever built for Go North East or if Coronavirus was a convenient way to bury bad news? Still surprised Arriva Yorkshire bought 4 cylinder Streetdeck buses, knowing their performance on NSL roads. They need to just put the 6 cylinder engine in the Streetdeck and not offer the smaller engine option. Thrash of a small engine is less fuel efficient than a larger one with a wider range of power

It is true smaller engine has to work harder so less fuel efficient.

Same here. I actually dislike the E400s a whole lot more, at least with the WHs and the LTs they have an interesting noise, whereas the E400s (the diesel variant, I actually like the hybrid E400s) that seem to plague East London just sound incredibly dull for me, also I’m still bitter how the 169 and 179 got stuck with them rather than gaining new MMCs which contributes to my dislike towards them. The E200s, both Euro IV and V and the diesel StreetDecks I don’t like either, all sound incredibly dull as well.

I like the Enviro 400s (ADE/TE) - make a nice noise and they are well built. I prefer LTs, WHs and Gemini 3s/2s to the Enviro 400 MMC range. WH45252 at RATP was one of the best StreetDecks I've seen - makes a nice noise and is quite fast.

It's like when you order a pair of jeans off Ebay and the seller announces he's away 2 weeks on holiday, but it's too much aggro to try and get a refund

There's very little I like about LTs, the only thing I do like is the humming of the motor. However, overall I think they're terrible and try not to use them where possible.

I like the Enviro 400s (ADE/TE) - make a nice noise and they are well built. Honestly in my experience of E400 and MMC I really wouldn't call them well built generally speaking. Though our ADEs Vs ADHs MMC the ADE feel better built. The E200 MMC are much better than the E200s though bit of a strange one.
