South to North by RATP and Arriva. Only by these two operators can you do one side of a non London borough to opposite side of London in a non London Borough ..two examples .. Start Caterham on the Hill 466 to Croydon 468 to Elephant 133 to London Bridge 149 to Lower Edmonton 279 to Waltham Cross Start Dorking 465 to Hook K2 to Tolworth 265 to Putney 220 to Harlesden 18 to Wembley 79 to Edgware 142 to Watford. You could technically really bend it and include Stagecoach too with the 677 going from Debden to Westerham. 677 to Ilford 25 to Bishopsgate 47 to Lewisham 261 to Bromley North 246 to Westerham You can even include the 498 which is from Brentwood. 498 from Brentwood to Romford Station 86 to Ilford 25 to Bishopsgate 47 to Lewisham 261 to Bromley North 246 to Westergam

The most indirect route in London has to be the N253. Very true, the N205 will get you from Euston to Aldgate much quicker. N253 goes to Tottenham Court road so quickest would be a N25.

The 19A when it ran Tufnell Park to Hammersmith, crossed the Thames twice, once over Battersea Bdg, then over Putney Bridge. At the time of the 19A Finsbury Park to Hammersmith(Brook Green Hotel)(Suns), a few routes crossed the Thames twice. The 33 crossed Hammersmith and Richmond Bridges; the 72 Hammersmith and Hampton Court Bridges on journeys to Hampton Grammar School; the 27 Kew and Richmond Bridges on journeys to Twickenham/Teddington. Prior to the existence of the 19A(1969-1971), the 14 would have crossed Putney and Kingston Bridges on summer Sunday journeys to Hampton Court; the 71 would have crossed Chiswick and Kingston Bridges on Saturday journeys to Sunbury Station. There are probably several others routes that I have missed. A unique fact about the 19A is something I have mentioned before. When it was introduced as a Sunday route no other routes were scheduled to terminate at Brook Green Hotel on a Sunday. The route was allocated to Battersea Garage who were new to the terminus. At that time there were no bus stop flags or I think road markings to denote standing arrangements. All other garages/routes during the week correctly parked on the offside, but often I would see a Battersea RT parked on the nearside between Shepherds Bush Road and Barb Mews. From April 1970 with the withdrawal of the 11 between Brook Green and Shepherds Bush Green, the Battersea crews took their cue from Riverside, Dalston and Victoria drivers and correctly parked on the offside. There must have been a route record displayed at Battersea Garage , but it seems many drivers could not be bothered to read it. Mind you they were ahead of their time as nowadays an offside stand for boarding and alighting would never be allowed.

When the. 290 terminated at Stanies Sainsbury’s or Thorpe Park and went through to Hammersmith, it crossed the Thames three times.
The 411 and 521 very short routes cross the Thames twice.
The former N9 / N22 / N92 routing also three times ( Kingston, Richmond and Putney , or Hammersmith )

Isn’t 464 the only route not to serve a single tube, rail, dlr or overground station?

Isn’t 464 the only route not to serve a single tube, rail, dlr or overground station? Possibly, but it does serve the trams which is technically rail.

Isn’t 464 the only route not to serve a single tube, rail, dlr or overground station? There's also the 685. I think the 464 is the only non-school route though.

Know any unique facts about any tfl route ? As trivial and boring as you want, but so long as it's unique. Something about a route that is unique in a particular setting, something only it does in its journey or in relation to other routes in its garage or a location along its route. NOT INCLUDED is a particular road that it alone goes along, lots of routes do that. This is what I mean; 276 - only single decker to serve Stratford Bus Station 66 - only day route serving Gants Hill that doesn't serve Ilford 282 - only route to start and finish in different hospital grounds. Ealing and Mount Vernon. ( H9/10 circular so doesn't count). Any other " unique " trivial info? 366 - the only single decker route to serve Barking Town Centre 205 - Serves the most hospitals?? (Not 100% sure) Royal London Hospital St Mary's Hospital University College Hospital Harley Street Portland Hospital ENT King's Cross Princess Grace Hospital 25 - Most Stations (Not 100% once again) Ilford Manor Park Forest Gate Stratford Stratford High Street Bow Church Bow Road Mile End Whitechapel Aldgate East Aldgate Fenchurch Street Bank St Paul's The 205 also serves moorfields eye hospital Think 205 also serves more stations than the 25: Bow church dlr Bow road Mile End Stepney Green Whitechapel Aldgate East At a stretch, Aldgate Liverpool Street Shoreditch high street Old street Angel Kings cross (tube, national rail) St Pancras Euston Euston Square Warren Street Great Portland Street Regent’s Park Baker Street Marylebone Edgware Road Paddington

A unique thing I've realised is that every express route meets at least one other express route
607 meets the X140 at Hayes, Grapes X140 meets the X26 at Heathrow Airport X26 meets the X68 at Croydon

Indeed the 331 has a number of unique distinctions: - Only TfL route to operate in three different counties - Greater London, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire - Crosses the Greater London boundary four times, more than any other route - the nearest rival is the 166 which crosses three times. - Only TfL bus route to operate in Buckinghamshire. Not only that, but the 331 is probably one of the most indirect routes, alongside the 455 and 386. To beat the: 331 - you could take the U1 and beat it. 386 - you could beat it by taking the 54. 455 - excluding the section in Old Lodge Lane, you could take the 127 to Wallington Station and beat it. Worth checking out Diamond Geezer's post on almost circular routes! diamondgeezer.blogspot.com/2018/04/almost-circular-bus-routes.html
