Inspired by the popular “Trivial But Unique” thread, I’ve decided to start one here.. I’ll start: The distance between Manor House and Turnpike Lane is one of the longest distance between two Underground stations. But there could’ve been one in between called St Ann’s. I assume it wasn’t built because of the financial implications of the Piccadilly line extension back in the 70s. I wonder if it will become a station soon. Who knows?

The Northern Line was originally to have ended at Sutton but due to suburban railways owning part of the land along the proposal route negotiations were made for the Underground to instead end at Morden.

I’ll start: The distance between Manor House and Turnpike Lane is one of the longest distance between two Underground stations. But there could’ve been one in between called St Ann’s. I assume it wasn’t built because of the financial implications of the Piccadilly line extension back in the 70s. I wonder if it will become a station soon. Who knows? There is a vent shaft on the corner of Green Lanes and Colina Road in the 'Holden' style, I presume this is where the station would have gone if it had come to fruition. I think it was skipped due to the number of stops between Central London and the 1932 extension stations - remember that there was no Victoria line at Finsbury Park for a fast alternative into town until 1968. Prior to that many Piccadilly Line trains were semi-fast between Finsbury Park and King's Cross to try and speed up journey times from North London. A huge newbuild scheme is just going up on the Colina Road site so I doubt any station will be appearing in the area any time soon.

Interesting. Would’ve been great for Sutton residents to get an Underground service. The Wimbledon-Sutton line was originally proposed as an extension of the District Line but was objected to by the Southern Railway. IIRC the agreement was that the Southern would build and operate the Wimbledon-Sutton line, and the Underground would extend what was at the time its City & South London Railway (now Northern Line) from Clapham Common to Morden, but no further. The Northern Line has a complicated history which is reflected in its current form, having been the merger of two separate lines connected by new works in the 1920s and the subsequent takeover of the Barnet branch of the Great Northern. It would have been even more complex had the "Northern Heights" expansion been completed, with trains also running from Moorgate via Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace and Bushey Heath.

It shows how much sway and power The Southern had under Sir Herbert Walker, when you look, prior to the Victoria Line, how many UG lines there were south of the river.

There was a proposal to essentially remove the crossover on the Victoria Line just north of Brixton and extend the overrun tunnels that lead halfway to Herne Hill to become a loop through Herne Hill serving a new station.
Not sure if it still is but i believe it was the busiest underground crossover in the world at one point and the busiest junction in the UK

Prior to the 92 stock consideration was given to upgrade the Waterloo and City Line with 72 stock from the Northern Line. I imagine that would've been achieved by transferring the relevant number of 59 stock from the Central Line¹ to the Northern to release 72 stock over.
¹ - then upgrading to 92 stock

Central Line from Mile End to Stratford must be one of the longest too! trains used to get up to some pretty decent speeds on that section back in the day.

Not sure if it still is but i believe it was the busiest underground crossover in the world at one point and the busiest junction in the UK I can imagine Herne Hill tube being somewhat like the northbound Seven Sisters Station in where the tunnel splits to approach two platforms in the same direction, then allowing trains to have stand time without holding back following trains. This would also be reminisant of Heathrow Terminals 1, 2 & 3 during the years when all airport trains waited there after doing the Terminal 4 loop. Regarding the busiest junction in the UK, I always thought Clapham Junction had that title.

It will be interesting to see if the plans to split the Northern Line from a few years ago resurface once the extension to Battersea Power Station opens.

He would have been referring to the physical junction/crossover at Brixton rather than the Clapham Junction station as a whole. At its peak, the Victoria line would be running at a 100-second frequency so if I’ve done my maths correctly, the crossover would have a Victoria line train running over it every 50 seconds

Would then be reminisant of the Stamore branch of the Bakerloo Line's renaming to the Jubilee Line back in 1979.
