Like I said before, I think the turning from Firs Road into Park Lane in Kenley may be an issue for longer buses. Yes absolutely that junction would be an issue, even in an 8.8/9m enviro it would be. It’s bad enough in a car It seems TFL agree that junction would be too tight for even an 8.9m SD. The consultation actually suggests the 434 will go via Wattendon Road and Hayes Lane, avoiding this particular turn. My suggestion would be to instead keep the 434 completely unchanged - I don't see the need to extend to Caterham just so the 439 can use the Whyteleafe stand. I would instead extend the 359 from Purley via Higher Drive, using Wattenden Road to turn around. This could be a shorter extension though, depending on where the Higher Drive developments are that TFL deem in need of a bus service. Another option might be to divert the 312 (former 455) from Purley via Foxley Hill Road, Higher Drive and Burcott Road, to line of route at Old Lodge Lane.

The 434 extension is needed to provide capacity at Caterham and also to improve driver welfare. The 312 routing via Higher Drive would make zero sense - you'd miss much of Old Lodge Lane, and also Higher Drive cannot justify anything more than 2bph - it was a hard ask to build a business case for just 3 extra buses in that area let alone a 5bph route

Good idea regarding the 359 being extended to Whyteleafe instead of having the 439 and leaving the 434 alone between Purley and Kenley. Driving on Higher Drive almost every day, I don't see any developments coming up at the moment, apart from one house being demolished currently to make space for flats but it is already a well built up area that could do with a bus service. I'd say the tight turn near Kenley Station may pose a challenge for the 359's current 10.8m SD's but if they can handle the Monks Hill estate without difficulty then I don't see why this can't be done. The 359's contract is also up for renewal in 2022 so this could be brought forward to March 2022 should the route be brought into the consultation's plans. I'd personally like to keep the 434's extension to Caterham, that has been long needed.

The 407 replacement will see a small drop in frequency - the 434 extension fits the objective of boosting that slightly (going from 5bph 407 to 6bph 434/443), not to mention the main exercise of the 434 rerouting is to provide enough capacity for all these new houses being built on infill sites. So it's a mix of purposes for the 434 extension

Mostly family homes being replaced with blocks of flats. These will start coming on stream by the time the 434 rerouting is scheduled to launch in about 12-15 months. There's one up there for something like 50 flats, being built by a developer who's partner works in the council planning department.... Make of that what you will.

What’s the new 645 being introduced? Already know about the 439, 443 and S2 being introduced in the changes but a new school route?

Indeed but of course, Inner London is now deemed unimportant because in Lambeth, there has been lots of development with more to come but absolutely nothing in terms of transport improvements and I suspect that it replicated across the Inner London boroughs.

Nothing I have seen suggest it does, where does this notion come from? www.londonbusroutes.net/details.htm - scroll to school & mobility bus section and looks at the 405, most probably is an error but just wanted to know in any event?

The map shows it going no where near Addigton Village but Londonbusroutes shows and afternoon 405 that doesn't exist now from AV.
