Khan has plenty of faults but your makes out as if Boris was excellent as mayor, some of those faults under Khan started under Boris. I had a look at this Brian bloke's transport policy on his website - very underwhelming and in parts, dangerous to the bus network in particular. Speaking of which, not one mention of buses but multiple mentions of cars. Thank goodness he has no chance. Explain that will Brian's policies do the bus network? An extract from his website is below: - Ensure that Transport For London (TfL) is managed in a fiscally responsible manner by avoiding further government bailouts due to historic poor financial management
- Build a transportation system of the future that promises to lead the world in technology, customer experience, and environmental friendly practices to deliver a world-class transportation service to all citizens. This will be accomplished by leveraging the innovation, expertise, and accountability of the private sector with the long term planning that only the public sector can provide
- Freeze fare increases for children, vulnerable groups, the elderly and disabled
- Remove the physical friction that prohibits unimpeded movement in the capital by abolishing all restricted access for taxis to major carriageways, removing pedestrian social distancing barricades and rethinking empty cycle lanes by proposing mixed use zones to allow the traffic flow of both cars and cycles
I'm not exactly sure what "Build a transportation system of the future" means, it seems like a very ambiguous thing to say, with the rest not explaining much of it.

He did not explain in detail what exactly is he going to do for transportation in London, the only 2 main things he wants to do is to make TFL financially manageable which is reasonable and make TFL profitable which im not sure exactly what he is going to do with that. If he wants profit, Im assuming the only things might change that profit would be more serious when it comes to transport planning and reviewing, more advertising and possibly company sponsored stations such as Barclays sponsoring Canary Wharf or Harrods sponsoring Kightsbridge . What makes me worried as some bus routes such as the 399 has mostly freedom passes which is a poor value will be gone unless the Equality Act protects it as it is needed for accessibility for the elderly.

I'm not exactly sure what "Build a transportation system of the future" means, it seems like a very ambiguous thing to say, with the rest not explaining much of it. I am sure this guy will end up wrecking the transport far more than doing any good to it. His view to run it as a business will kill off any non-major routes and cuts will end up flying left, right and centre cutting the minority off in favour of the majority. I'm all for an increase on the 25 but not as the expense of a withdrawal of the 462 or something. It also ignores the fact that he's independent, he is going to have barely any support in parliament. Ken Livingstone obviously was an independent, but still had strong ties to the Labour Party so was at a far greater benefit, and this no doubt helped him in 2004. But any candidate will need power from the inside too, Khan has the most loyal opposition on his side while Bailey would obviously have government on his side. Both are really helpful in advancing any policies they might want to. I'm sure the Green Party and LibDems know they are fielding candidates more so as a formality for the mayoral race and will probably focus more on their GLA seats of which they stand quite decent chances. It's really just a Bailey vs Khan situation, I've said it before that if the Conservative party just filed in someone that'd not be outlandish they'd have stood a very decent chance. But Bailey is just going to end up giving Khan the mayors office on a plate. I know we focus a lot on transport on this forum, but that's far from the only reason people vote for the mayor. Crime has always been a big sticking point, however how much of that is the fault of Patel refusing to allocate police officers to London as opposed to Khan. Khan is really really good at blaming central government and kicking up a fuss over it, during the bailout Khan got himself a lot of attention on Twitter for blaming central government so many people will be aware of the effects central government has. Not to mention Khan actually manage to reverse the proposed extension of CC and the removal of free child travel proposed by the Tory Central Government. The public once again are very aware of the fact these were Tory policies due to Khan kicking up a huge fuss about it before saving them. The extension to CC and the introduction of child fares are now going to plague Bailey's campaign instead. Not to mention the Conservative party have totally butchered the Coronavirus pandemic, London has seen incredibly high death rates and once again Khan has been very very vocal about the mishandling of the pandemic. He proposed a lot of measures far earlier than they were imposed and will have all of this backing him up too.

I'm sure anyone could make TfL profitable, if you withdrew every bus route and just ran the top 10 busiest routes I'm sure you'd turn a profit, although the feasibility of that is zero, it's about how it's done sustainably and in a way the city needs that matters. Sponsored stations and probably sponsored lines would be a bit of a disaster. Just imagine Knightbridge becoming Harrods Station Canary Wharf becoming Barclays Headquarters Heathrow Central becoming "Emirates: Hello Tomorrow" Piccadilly Circus becoming "CocaCola" No matter how much we hate politicians, the mayor of London needs to be a politician who knows who to delegate tasks to and who to get support from.

I'll be voting for Sadiq. Not the best Labour candidate possible but at the end of the day this is Khan vs Bailey and Khan is so easily the best choice of those two. Bailey couldn't run a bath let alone a global city of 9 million at a time of enourmous challenges.

Brians policies are no doubt going to be disastrous to the transport network - I can only see high passenger density routes remain given that per kilometre they can profit (so as I mentioned the 104 & W7) and no doubt will likely do very similar things Sadiq Khan has done in terms of thinning out certain corridors and routes in certain areas, thank god he has very little chance

These days we are just losing trust with politicians as they break promises. He had very ambitious plans back in 2016 which made me liked him a lot like building 500,000 new homes in 5 years, tackle knife crime, expand the overground to south london, promised to build fire safe houses after grenfell but only renovated 5 out of thousands of flammable homes. The overground bit could happen later this year as the Govia Franchise expires later this year, but with houses its at a shocking level of breaking promises aswell with LTNs unconsallted and not helping businesses of not by creating all of those parking charges.

Khan has not been keeping quiet about the lack of police enforcement London has, I don't see what else he's meant to do about knife crime really. He can't walk into a gang and tell them to stop.

Well technically its a law as the Equality Act protects certain people the Elderly for having accessible transport Do they, then why have so many parts of the country had their services withdrawn over past view years? Many parts of the country the elderly are not able to utilise their free bus pass.
