Well technically its a law as the Equality Act protects certain people the Elderly for having accessible transport Do they, then why have so many parts of the country had their services withdrawn over past view years? Many parts of the country the elderly are not able to utilise their free bus pass. Its a law from the Greater London Authority, I think also a policy from TFL which was introduced in 2012 for the Olympics so the transport system can be presentable. Dont forget, the Tories has a free market policy which lets companies do whatever they want for profit. London is not a countryside village, its a densely populated city that heavily relies on public transport for people to get around, thats why TFl has some sort of effective planning policy.

Hate to say this, the GLA can not create laws.

The lack of information is just another reason to not vote for him. You seem to support him but be unaware of his actual policies. I'm sure anyone could make TfL profitable, if you withdrew every bus route and just ran the top 10 busiest routes I'm sure you'd turn a profit, although the feasibility of that is zero, it's about how it's done sustainably and in a way the city needs that matters. Sponsored stations and probably sponsored lines would be a bit of a disaster. Just imagine Knightbridge becoming Harrods Station Canary Wharf becoming Barclays Headquarters Heathrow Central becoming "Emirates: Hello Tomorrow" Piccadilly Circus becoming "CocaCola" No matter how much we hate politicians, the mayor of London needs to be a politician who knows who to delegate tasks to and who to get support from. If Khan wants to win he has to those things, go out on TV and explain why those houses arnt delivered and knife crime are up and make people trust him again from the critics. These days we are just losing trust with politicians as they break promises. He had very ambitious plans back in 2016 which made me liked him a lot like building 500,000 new homes in 5 years, tackle knife crime, expand the overground to south london, promised to build fire safe houses after grenfell but only renovated 5 out of thousands of flammable homes. The overground bit could happen later this year as the Govia Franchise expires later this year, but with houses its at a shocking level of breaking promises aswell with LTNs unconsallted and not helping businesses of not by creating all of those parking charges. I initially supported Brian around October because he seemed like he had really good policies & great interviews. But I stopped supporting him due to not just his transport policies, but due to him using his platform to consistently ridicule Sadiq Khan unnecessarily, I don't like Khan but frankly I feel it is totally unnecessary to ridicule someone in almost every one of his videos and I really lost him from there. And it's such a shame given the majority of his policies are really good but not only that but his sort of motto is about killing the 2 party system and making it a more even playing field with more independent parties which I totally agree with.

For me this will be my first time voting Labour. Khan is far from perfect but what need at the moment is some stability as come out of the pandemic.

He thinks Covid is a hoax. Crazy I haven't seen him say that so I'll have a look but he seems like a decent candidate in terms of his policies. I'll definitely look into that though, cheers for the info If this is David Kurten we’re on about, he is one warped individual.

Thouugh I can't vote yet (registered but ineligible), it would be hard to choose, out of Bailey & Khan (let's be honest, no one else will probably win), both are far from the best. I would choose Khan, whilst he has some good policies, he also has some bad ones (LTN's for example) however he would be better than Bailey. (Guess I'm also slightly more in favour of Khan as he has personally helped my family out when he was Tooting MP)

My best advise from me is that I you want to pick who you want, find someone who feels like a leader to you on who you trust that can take this city forward based on there own polices. It doesn't matter which candidate it is, anyone can suit you.

I just can't vote for anyone that is pro-LTN. That is my No1 criteria.

The Conservative party messed up big time putting Shaun Bailey in as their candidate. The guy is clueless and whoever he has installed as his policy advisors aren’t the sharpest tools in the box. Sadiq Khan really ought to be given the boot, but for me the prospect of Bailey as mayor is even worse. Not sure who I will vote for....it’s a 2 horse race and I don’t see any candidate with a compelling case for my vote.

So after having a look at Brian Rose (and for this, I'm merely focusing on the transport aspect in fairness as I did with Rose), I decided to look at the other independents and as such immediately didn't bother with Corbyn because he is the definition of an absolute nincompoop so looked at Farah London's transport policy instead - it sounds nice but I don't think it's realistic at all. I mean you can't criticise TfL mismanagement and then offer 100 days free travel as some sort of way of restoring confidence (which TfL is looking to restore confidence via an advertising campaign as Andy Byford recently said) when you are effectively doing the same thing TfL did during the pandemic. I don't think she has a grasp on the revenue aspect at all as suggested by this:
"The introduction of a dynamic ticketing system will underpin my “Fare Deal” reform package. This will provide cheaper transport for all Londoners and allow City to Hall to alter fares to encourage patronage during periods of low traffic and to assist communities marginalised by the current system. Particularly those in outlying areas with poor connections to the tube network. Hospitality workers tapping in and out at the start/end of their shifts will be exempt. There will be free periods for all passengers travelling through high street tube stations at less busy times to stimulate commercial activity. Further rolling packages of incentives will be announced as part of the fare deal program"
We all want cheaper fares and free this and that but I also would rather the network not have to ripped apart to cover the cost of such schemes. Right now, TfL needs all the revenue it can get and I don't think introducing salary caps on TfL staff alongside these "cost saving measures" will be enough to cover this free travel ideas.
I will give her some credit though - this "Powering Up" program does sound interesting, maybe an evolution of the current consultation process where users actually have a proper say in things.

Also need to take a look at the logistics of such an operation. How do you define a "High street" station? Would somewhere like Stratford or Barking, both in the middle of town centres but are Category B stations count in this or will it just be suburban stations such as Tooting Broadway? I honestly also do wonder how exactly it will work. What if I want to visit someone who I know in Ealing Broadway? If I time it in the middle of the day I'll just get a free ride to Ealing Broadway without helping the local high street. For a laugh I did also look up Piers Corbyn. He doesn't even have a website yet but his key policies that he seems to have mentioned so far include Ending the Covid con rules Reversing the Covid rules discrimination against people who refuse to wear masks and refuse to take the vaccine Homes for all A new accountable NHS, putting well-being before the profits of big-pharma Defend free speech and the right of assembly Defend Julian Assange all the way Supporting the Punjabi farmers fighting against the “new world order” New intelligent environment and transport policies Certainly just going to be a waste of ink even printing him on the ballot paper. I just worry that he'll become such a joke that he'll end up getting a sizeable number of votes.

Argh why do all elections these days seemingly be those of the "I'll have to pick the least worst" kind. Even though London, as with any other urban metropolis, is a left-leaning city, the Conservatives have really not bothered to prop up a decent candidate this time around. Let's face it, Khan is going to win, regarless of his incompetency, lack of charisma and denial of some of London's most significant problems, most notably knife crime which has skyrocketed. The 2008 scene was a very unique one in the sense that Labour were fumbling under a weak government and the Tories proposed a unique and charismatic alternative candidate who really stood out. The left wing vote was also undercut by the Lib Dems, arguably at/ just after their peak in national popularity. This isn't something that is going to happen any time soon.
The third party candidates can shout as much as they like; they aren't going to achieve much. Brian Rose has the greatest chance and has used social media rather effectively, but the establishment will be sure to get their own way for sure. Look at Ross Perot in the 1990s, most notably in the 1996 US election when he was barred from the debates by the Democrat-Republican controlled commission on debates after an extremely strong performance in the 1992 election to harm his chances. So as usual it'll go down to two-party politics.
The Lib Dems continue to be useless. Their own leader is an outer-suburban London MP and yet they fail to gain any traction yet again. They truly are in trouble

What we really need is a transport enthusiast or just someone who takes pride in our bus and train networks if we want improvement in transport and they way it's run or managed. Someone like Andy Byford? He seems to have turned a few transport systems around or the better, so hopefully TfL is also getting improved

He is clearly anti any vehicles that are not ridden by a cyclist. How can you say from his first term in office he will be anything but negative for any form of surface transport? He has been a disaster! If you want this to continue, yeah, feel free to reelect Khan! Chaos will be spread along all London streets. The cycling lobby will not be happy until such time as all other forms of transport have been banished from the roads, and Khan not only listens to them, actions and promotes the desires. Get to the gym bus drivers, buses will be converted to pedal power! (Said tongue in cheek before too many comments)
