I watched the ITV London debate on Thursday evening and Sadiq mentioned the 108 being the most unreliable bus route in London, mostly in part due to the 600 closures on average the Blackwall Tunnel sees every year. Firstly can someone point me to the right portal for these figures so I can have a browse? Secondly Sian Berry and whatever the name of the Lib Dem candidate is both attack the Silvertown Tunnel being constructed, whilst not citing the poor road transport links across the river in east/south-east London & not offering any alternatives. It's easy to say no to the tunnel when they likely live to the west of Tower Bridge where there are over a dozen ways to cross the river via a road bridge within the Greater London boundary. However to the east there's only Tower Bridge, Rotherhithe and Blackwall tunnels and these bottleneck crossings simply aren't reliable. The Silvertown Tunnel is certainly needed to cope with the projected demand for transport in the east, with the new homes at the Greenwich Peninsula, Kidbrooke, Silvertown and Canning Town, expansion of London City Airport etc, not to mention the vast amount of opportunities for an improved bus network, with connections to the Elizabeth Line, DLR and the Tube. I struggle to think how anyone could oppose the Silvertown Tunnel. I support it as I would for most major infrastructure projects for the sake of the economy, where the benefits have pretty much always outweighed the costs/drawbacks. I think the environmental issues surrounding congestion and the tunnel's construction raised by the likes of climate activists including the Green Party would be less relevant in the long term as we move towards a greener future. I suspect traffic flows would be distributed across the existing river crossings as well as the Silvertown Tunnel and of the course the main goal is to improve links across the river with shorter journey times, to ease congestion at the Blackwall Tunnel and providing road users with an alternative route when the Blackwall Tunnel is closed. However congestion is definitely a problem and I do question what is going to be done about the cycling situation around the area as well as the road network. A new segregated cycle lane was recently opened along Woolwich Road from Charlton to Greenwich which crosses the Blackwall Tunnel approach, with eastbound bus stops relocated inside the cycle lane beside the new curb. The cycle lane is so wide that I find it hard to comprehend how they have even managed to fit it in, much of the road has been reduced to two lanes, one in each direction so no overtaking buses, as if traffic wasn't bad enough before the cycle lane was installed.

There really isn't that much traffic on Silvertown Way, bar the middle of the day when HGVs from the industrial estates moving around. Not exactly sure where the mouth of the Silvertown Tunnel will be placed northbound but there's sufficient road capacity on Lower Lea Crossing for westbound traffic and Silvertown Way & A1020 Royal Docks Road for eastbound travel. I think I sense a fear of most if not all cars gunning from Silvertown Tunnel to the A13 from you, but I trust there to be no further upgrade to road infrastructure. Perhaps make the full length of Silvertown Way dual carriageway but but that won't be a major undertaking in itself. You don't sense fear you sense what a stupid idea to have a tunnel come out right in the middle of a major housing development. As I said in my previous post it is likely gong to end up with a bottle neck in the Blackwall Tunnel area which almost defeats the point of the tunnel. As for cars heading to the westbound A13 via Canning Town that will not work especially since they removed the eastbound slip road a few years back now all traffic goes via Barking Road and Beckton Road.
I think there need to be substantial improvements, it looks like the eventual aim is to get the A13 traffic into the Silvertown Tunnel with the A12 traffic continuing to use the Blackwall tunnel. I think the road infrastructure will certainly be improved, but I think most focus will be placed on the South. Both the tunnels effectively come out right next to each other and I am not sure doing that is the smartest move they could have done. It's so stupidly placed that if one of the tunnels go down, tailbacks from one will effectively close the other.

Total BS from the mayor as usual. Yes the tunnel has closures, but other routes are impacted far worse than that by road closures etc. whether roadworks, diversions from protests etc. When looking at worst performing routes, the 108 is not at the bottom. bus.data.tfl.gov.uk/boroughreports/routes/performance-route-108.pdf

There is a debate on BBC1 at the moment about the mayor of London candidates with only the 4 main political parties. I think the issue is that the more people they have, the more cost and the higher the risk of covid transmission. While it's extremely unfair to all the independent people, I genuinely think that some of them could gain a far higher support. It's extremely unlikely any of them would win the mayoralty so have probably been missed out. I'm actually surprised even the LibDems and Greens are there since both of them stand pretty much no chance. Bailey is the only candidate that has any possibility at all of unseating Khan, and even that's extremely unlikely in itself. So it makes sense to just cut costs, although I think this election could be the start of many more independent candidates standing for mayoral elections in the future.

I don’t know why they don’t do the opposite and just let the independents into debates - I mean, the political party candidates are all woeful at best so I’ve no interest in listening to them but listening to the independents on a more detailed level would be a different story for me

All of the polls leading up to the general election predicted a strong Tory victory so that's just not the case. Almost all showed a 10 point lead at least, as happened on the day I believe the only time Polls have actually predicted the completely wrong result as the John Major victory of 1992, and that was only because it fell in the margin of error. Since then they've been fairly correct and especially GLA ones have been relatively accurate. It'll take an extremely unlikely series of events for every single poll here to be wrong. It's really funny that the 1992 exit poll always gets mentioned as the 1987 one was actually far worse. Whilst it did foreshadow a third successive Conservative victory, it only predicted a majority of 26 when in reality they achieved a 104 majority. I assume the 92 blunder is more infamous however as it didn't predict an outright win when in reality they remained in power with a majority of 21 or so.

As I've said before, I don't think there is a particularly great candidate outside of Max the YouTuber outright trolling idiot Laurence Fox which is funny IMO but I have managed to choose one and it's Farah London I'm going with. Now I'm not sold on everything she has said as I've previously mentioned but there are bits and pieces I do like. So somehow, I managed to find someone to vote for

Came across this picture on Facebook and by this point I'm sure the Tories aren't taking this seriously Ironically, Niko Omilana did a similar thing, albeit with an open-topped Routemaster that he converted to a restaurant. That is a very strange way to advertise to people, there isn't much advertisement on the bus, but whatever, I suppose. That's an East Lancs Myllennium DD (whichever chassis), right?

Looks like a ELC Lolyne to me which would mean it's on a Dennis Trident chassis. The Vyking was on a Volvo B7TL chassis, Lowlander on a DB250 chassis & Omnidekka on a Scania N94UD & N230/270UD chassis.

I’m 99% sure this is one of the former London General Vykings, looking at other photos I think it’s former EVL46. There is a much better rotating digital advert on the other side.

The Vyking's that London General had were gasket glazed and had a bigger side upstairs rear window than the one in the picture. They also have a B7TL grill on the offside which the one in the picture doesn't have but does have the tiny offside grill that Lolynes did.

It's a former Blackpool vehicle - a Trident with Myllennium Lolyne bodywork. Looking closely at the pic you can just make out part of the reg (PJ--PY-).
