The forum really needs a dislike button 🤣😜 2026: Sadiq Khan stands for a 4th term as London Mayor (Assuming he wins the next term) I think a win in 2024 is likely - although if there is a General Election in 2023 and a new Labour Government quickly finds itself unpopular, Khan could have more of an uphill battle than he expects. It's worth noting though that, even on this forum where there is a LOT of anti-Khan sentiment, two-thirds of the members who responded to the forum poll said they would vote for him in 2021.

Fingers crossed it's an independent as otherwise it's a choice between him or whatever poor Tory candidate is put forward which neither is good. Despite the furor around the ULEZ & road charging (ironically two things I'm actually in favour of especially road charging which IMO is absolute must, don't shoot me) and his current approval rating being poor, he is still tipped to regain his position as mayor.

An independent with no loyalties to any one single party would be good for London and exactly what we need. Khan just isn’t good for London, far too much rhetoric and too little actual action. If it were any other decade and if the economy was better than yes road pricing for main roads seems sensible providing the proceeds are going to funding additional buses, underground/overground expansion etc rather than into city halls ridiculously overreaching policies.

I doubt it, even if Labour were unpopular, in London Khan would win, down to many people in London supporting Labour as though it were a football team.

The guy is nothing but a faker. The fact he is still pratting on his dad was a bus driver, you would think he made a long life service of it. When his dad didn't even do a few year, but had run a shop. It is shocking how people want to be portrayed as "came from the bottom" to make the voter think they are like them and still are. In reality they are far from them.

Although it would give Khan a reason to shake in his boots. All those hard lefties would likely vote for him, dwindling Khans vote share.

Depending on his manifesto, I would consider voting for him, as long as it is not anything stupid.

As I understand it there will be no second choice vote for mayor this time either, so not if Corbyn gets knocked, Khan does not gain the votes as second choice, it is just a straight majority.

To be honest I'm doubting a Tory victory, but if Corbyn does run he will probably get enough momentum to certainly dent Khan's victory. No Tory voter will vote Corbyn but many Khan voters will.

Of course the Tories aren't likely to win, but he will split the Labour vote. Besides there will be some people who have never liked Corbyn and never will, so will stick with Khan. Besides, the article doesn't say that he's definitely running. Regardless of whether he does or not I can only see a Khan victory coming.
