Can't deny it, Arsenal were abysmal against City. But how the 2nd goal was not disallowed for Laporte punching Chambers in the head and getting a deserved red card, things might have been different. Looked nothing more than a bit of push and shove to me and Chambers went down far too easily. I'd love to see your reaction if an Arsenal player did that to someone from the team you support?

See the thing with Xhaka is he should be really good because he's experienced (being 28) which is what Arsenal lacks in. A lot of the players are 18-20 year olds who don't have much experience and it's the same that happened in the Final of the Euros, Bukayo Saka is 19 and due to Southgate's poor planning of the game it ended up being him taking on a make or break penalty. If Arsenal had more experience and someone better in management than Arteta, they could definitely return to their former glory. Arsenal were already going into decline in Wenger's final years at the club, but the 'Wenger out' brigade really hounded him out. Thing is, Arsenal have been far worse since then, and I think they'll probably finish 8th at best this season. They just don't have the players like other squads like Man City and Liverpool to be competing for the top 4 or title at the moment I will tell you when the decline really kicked off. It was the 2010-11 season when Arsenal lost to Birmingham City when Obafemi Martins scored that goal caused by Szcesny and Koscielny. After that season Nasri, Eboue, Fabregas, Clichy all left that season. That was unforgivable how they lost and the fact that they only won two matches afterwards that season shows it all. It became a lot more evident when Leicester won the league in 2015-16 because Wenger couldn't hide behind the whole no money strapline. This is not me discrediting Leicester winning that season but I genuinely think it was of a case that all the top teams that season really underperformed.

I think the rot set in under Wenger and has continued since he left, just seems to be no ambition at the club. Roberto Di Matteo isn't a bad shout at all, I think Arteta is out of his depth and I think any new manager should try and offload Granit Xhaka who is just a liability. Lol, Roberto Di Matteo is a poor choice, he is as inexperienced as Arteta is with both winning the FA Cup and whilst he won a Champions League, there he is reason he was sacked (first club to win it and go out in the group stage the following season and the group wasn’t difficult either) and why he has never had another top job since. Erik Ten Haag or Graham Potter are my preferred choices, both play good football and enjoy working with younger players plus are both experienced enough. The club tried to sell Xhaka this summer but clearly no one was willing to pay his value hence why the Roma move failed to happen. Arteta has been backed, makes no sense to give him £130m+ and then get rid after 3 games. A new manager isn’t going to solve this issue nor is he going to be able to sell Xhaka any easier - we’ve been here before with Emery who came back to haunt us with Villareal and once Arteta is sacked because I don’t trust my club to make the correct decision, he will probably come back to haunt us with his new team Regarding managers what about Antonio Conte?
As you have stated previously, as you are an Arsenal Supporter what would you consider to be the problems with the team?

He throws a fist, it connects with his face. How is that a bit of push and shove? Ex referee Chris Foy is of the same opinion, ok he caught him in the face but it wasn't exactly a full blooded punch and I doubt if there was any intent, just the sort of wrestling match that occurs at most set pieces.

You have just described a foul. Is punching within the rules of the game? If you take a player out outside the rules of the game it is a foul.

Wold you use this as a training video for an U13 side to show them the extent of the law and what is legal. The force of the blow caused his head to move about 10 inches! If that is going to becone part of the game we needed worry about 2 footed challenges.

No to Conte, he worked for Chelsea because they are known for functional teams. Arsenal are (or were) known for attractive football and the next manager must adhere to this along with working with youngsters and Conte ticks neither box. If I list all the problems, we’d probably be here for the rest of the year but the biggest by far is the owners & board. It’s great they’ve finally gone on a spending spree but it’s far too late. I also don’t trust them to make the correct decisions in regards to hiring or firing either

So Willian leaves Arsenal to head back to Brazil. He left not wanting a pay out. That says something.

So Willian leaves Arsenal to head back to Brazil. He left not wanting a pay out. That says something. I don't blame him. Arsenal is a sinking ship. Under Unai Emery was bad, but soon as they were going for Arteta I knew it was a bad move. Not because he was assistant to Pep Guardiola and Man City won the league, means he would have work wonders at Arsenal. It started out bad for Solstar at Man Utd but he now seems to have got to grasp. IMO Arsenal needed a manager with experience and Arteta could not do that. He does not even have the team working with him, it could be easily seen. The cracks were there from the fallout with Ozil. Arsenal seems to be getting a few players with big names but they do not seem to be playing well at the club at all. The defence is weak for years and the players do not seem to have a bond with Emery and even worse Arteta. I feel Willian would have performed much better under a different manager, it was the same as happened with David Luiz.
