I don’t know why everyone is getting so annoyed about it. Do any motorsport fans remember the GPWC? It was set up by then-existing F1 manufacturer teams as a breakaway to F1. Teams, drivers, a calendar - it was all announced. Then motorsports governing body caved, gave the manufacturers what they wanted and the GPWC was history
Same thing will happen here. UEFA will cave, these teams will get what they want and the European Super League will go back to being another rumour

I think for my personal view it shows the greedy side of things for the owners more than anything else.

There are rumours Porto, Leipzig and Bayern's owners are interested but Bayern is unlikely to join as 51% is owned by fans.
What could be next, big teams from Micky Mouse leagues like Celtic, Rangers and Ajax might be looking for a bigger competition.

They're actually a decent side. Feyenoord and PSV are decent sides.

As a Utd fan of almost 40 years, this is a disgrace. Gary Neville sums up my feelings exactly. This is disowning your club stuff. If it goes ahead, Utd are dead to me. I’ll support a lower league local club instead. I’d rather watch amateurs have a kick about in a park, than support Utd in a European Super League. I hope the league, EUFA and FIFA come down heavily on the self titled big 12. Fans need to wake up and stop their unconditional support for these mercenaries.
Btw if the rumour about Mourinho being sacked for his stance against the ESL, he has taken a step towards restoring his standing in the game. No doubt Levy will attach a gagging order to his pay out, as is standard these days.

I won't be surprised if many fans and players boycott it. Only people who would like it is just the new breed of modern fans where one year they support Man City then go to Chelsea the next year. (No offense but the non European fans such as the Middle Eastern and Asian football fans who where different kits everyday, just money really from those people like they purposely schedule matches at 12:00 for the Asian audience )

I dont seem to get the negativity of everyone since the announcement. Watch big teams across Europe play every other week seems interesting to me. I cant wait to create my ESL fantasy team with Lukaku, Messi and Ronaldo (Ok it means I might need to have Holding at the back).
The disown your club seems a bit extreme. I am more than happy to see Liverpool play in this competition. People are reacting like Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool joined forces to form Arse-Man-Pool FC. 'I wont support this'. 'This is disgusting'.
The big clubs have the power and they can make this happen, simply because PL, Serie A, La Liga, UEFA will be nothing without those sides. The PL will still continue with the big 6 but it means the CL will become this SuperLeague. The breakaway aspect only materialises if PL does something stupid and bans the big 6, which will then lead to the negative impacts through the lower leagues.
Yes, it will be different and some aspects will not be as competitive but others would be more so.
As mentioned, this could be a tactic for the big 6 to get more money from UEFA or to get more guaranteed spots in the competition. No-one reacted like this to UEFA champions League reformatting which included allowing teams to qualify based on history.

The current state of football is unsavoury and far from perfect, but this breakaway league is an abomination. Lower league clubs survive on parachute payments and there is a high degree of meritocracy in the current system. No club has a divine right to remain at the top. I will support my club even if we were relegated to non-league football. That’s what it means to truly support a club. I started supporting Utd when we were winning nothing and getting spanked by Liverpool and others. I’ve been fortunate enough to see my club win a lot of silverware since 1990. I don’t take that for granted. What is being proposed is a closed shop of revenue protectionism. By all means pay your subs to watch such a league, we are all free to make our own choices. I will choose to take my support* (read “money” as that is all most owners care about) elsewhere. The health of the domestic game is more important than the pockets of rich owners.

So when everyone gets bored of the ESL in 5-10 years time, make sure you don’t come crying back wanting to resurrect a now dead domestic league because that’s what will happen. My club, Arsenal, are a disgrace - we have a billionaire owner who consistently fails to dip into his pocket to help try and achieve something for the fans whilst consistently investing money from Arsenal into his American interests - if you really think football will prosper from this, then I must assume you’ve come off worse from an aerial challenge because I can tell you right now, your American owners at Liverpool & my horrible lot at Arsenal will continue pumping the money back to their franchises NFL, NBA, NHL, etc

How are Arsenal and Spurs applying for this? But real talk though, this Super League will be the death of football and well done to the PL to put their foot down and hopefully give reasonable punishments to the clubs involved. Sorry but why are you singling those two clubs out in particular? It was a joke dude...

I am generally surprised PSG is not part of the ESL when the owner has many corrupt criminal backgrounds behind him.

I can't get my head around the idea of a European Superleague that includes Arsenal and Tottenham but not Bayern Munich and PSG!
