It was more than speculation as Spanish football expert Guillem Balague mentions - "those advising Emery were left feeling uncertain about the club's strategy, with stories in England emerging that the shortlist was down to him and Howe - two men with contrasting approaches and vastly different levels of experience within European football. "Emery felt a huge pressure on the day of their match," said Balague. "And then there was the lack of a clear vision from the club. If you want him, do you approach him in such a rushed way, without an official offer and with it coming out from the English side that it is all practically done? "Also, the different number and style of the candidates being considered appears to be a sign of a confused vision. That was a concern to some of those involved in conversations with the club hierarchy." Phil McNulty says that Emery was first choice which is contradicted by reports elsewhere that he was actually 4th choice behind Conte, Fonseca and one other that escapes me. What we've learned is the new owners at Newcastle aren't particularly an organised bunch - only rich. I suspect Fonseca will be re-visited in due course.

Newcastle are like a chav neighbour who's just won £3 million on the lottery and are throwing their cash about Unfortunately Amanda Staveley went about this all wrong, doing the PR before any actual signing of contracts Buying any big name can still be disastrous if they don't gel or work together as a team. No one wants a Relegation Dogfight on their CV, and Emery didn't exactly shine for the Gunners... Nuno's looking for work, they can call him, he brought Wolves up from Championship, so no doubt could do the same. Just don't tune in to the post match conferences, especially if one is driving

If the noisy neighbours are on it tomorrow lunchtime I think Ole could be looking down the barrel once again, another home humiliation would surely be too much to bear?

They'll keep quiet during the international break, then United will come from behind to beat Watford and the fans will be Ole In again, Peter Drury will say a speech about Cristiano and Gary Neville will say he believes in Ole's project on Sky. Repeat cycle.

I dunno about this one you know. OGS in recent times seems to have a good record against Pep and then again this is a derby so form goes out the window 😂😂😂.

I'd be surprised at anything other than a City win but you're right, form does go out of the window in a local derby.

Indeed it does and Aston Villa are in a freefall phase at the moment. 5 straight defeats

Tottenham face Everton, hopefully we'll roar like a VLA on the 123 Conte being late for the press conference due to extra training for the squad. We need to be coaxed back to life like the 318 EN's

We need to be coaxed back to life like the 318 EN's I wonder if Conte will be as animated with Spurs as compared to when he was at Chelsea Useless players like Dier will have him screaming like an Arriva North East Pulsar Apparently he's quite adept at chucking the odd bottle of water when he's fuming (hopefully not the 2 litre Volvic ones)... but Nuno was probably sobbing in a corner like a supply teacher in a failing Academy school Let's see what Dr Tottenham prescribes tomorrow at Everton. Surprised to see a Norwich win, and Newcastle and all their money are bottom... Good luck with the manager search, it seems Howe is not quite a done deal, issues with his coaching staff...
