It no longer exists but before the Herne Hill junction was partially rebuilt, the left turn from Norwood Road into Dulwich Road was stupidly tight for anything other than cars which meant buses and other larger vehicles would almost be forced to ride over the kerb to the point the kerb sunk down to road level. The pavement here was also stupidly tight meaning pedestrians had trouble passing each other. Thank god the current junction is a massive improvement over what we had before During the 90s the SP class Optare Spectras on the 3/N3 were swapped around with the Titans from the 35 and 45. IIRC it lasted the best part of a month until street infrastructure was adjusted. This of couse was a few years prior to the improvements you mentioned. I remember that although the SP's would always evade me on the 35 & 45 but I ended up with a T instead so not all bad. Do you know what was the offending section on the 3?

Something to do with an awkwardly placed bollard resulting in tyre damage if I recall correctly?

It was indeed, in relation to the SPs being longer.

Orpington High Street for 2 reasons. Ever since Tesco caused the widening of pavements, buses struggle to pass each other by Nat West Bank. Secondly, the pedestrian crossing is sited too close to the War Memorial, causing chaos on that roundabout; the crossing should be moved to the elevated area 75 yards north that is already used by pedestrians as an unofficial crossing. This would help avoid buses having to sit on the roundabout blocking others.

Another tight turn is from Ruscoe Road into Rogers Road on routes 147/241 - hard to imagine buses used to run this way in both directions up to the year 2000! I am sure that the rerouting happened because there was a collision between buses. W4 in and around Broad Water Farm estate. I was also at George Lane, South Woodford, and I am rarely there but how do buses move efficiently in the tiny 2-way section between station and Hermon Hill road

Maybe Pools on the Park in Richmond can be a tricky stand because when I was working at Westbus and taking schools to here at times it was tight especially if there was another coach here and a 490...
So moving on from tricky roads, what about Tricky Stands or turning points?

So moving on from tricky roads, what about Tricky Stands or turning points? The obvious one would be the G1's stand at Shaftesbury Estate where only short buses can do the reversing maneuver to reach the stand - longer buses are turned short to Clapham Junction. The 455's stand on Old Lodge Lane is problematic for Streetlites as WS75-78 were ordered for the 455 but were diverted to the 39 - they clearly were originally intended for the route as they turned up wearing Go-Ahead Metrobus logos and it was mentioned to me that Old Lodge Lane was the issue as Streetlites have a worse turning circle. It's also telling that none of the 355's WS's have ever been on the route yet three SEN's of similar length have whilst they were at C

It has to do a U-turn in the middle of a dual carriageway - couldn’t believe it when I saw it the first time

For me it should be extended to either Finsbury Park or Newington Green although Finsbury Park is pretty full I believe.
