As I asked earlier, when it comes to Arriva, is Kent safe ? I mainly mean Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells? I was in Maidstone recently, well the hospital and the buses seemed pretty full. I'm not sure you'll get a definitive answer to your question. There may be people in the know who won't divulge any information but I would suggest that you'll just have to wait and see. Neither advertising for drivers or buses running full would be an indication either way in my view. Ultimately it will be down to whether another operator is interested and if they're prepared to make an offer which is worth more to Arriva than keeping the depots Ok thanks. I’m thinking of returning to the industry, I’m local. There are no other operators in Tunbridge Wells, so I’ve no idea what would happen there, if it wasn’t for Arriva. Arriva in Tunbridge Wells pretty much just serve the town and surrounding areas, I don’t think they do much long distance or rural routes anymore. I stand to be corrected. But I was curious about the future there..

They definitely still ran a route to Maidstone when I went (free bus day 24th June last year) so I think that they still operate some longer distance routes. Seem to remember that having a TW code or is it operated from the Maidstone end?

Does Arriva actually have any work in Sussex? Curious as the operator name is Arriva Kent & Sussex. To my knowledge, Arriva don’t touch Sussex at all. Certainly not in years anyway. Only 3 years ago. The 63 from Guildford used to run into Horsham. From the Kent side, not since something like 2016 I don’t think with the 228/229 into Crowborough

There are two routes between Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone, the 6 via Pembury, Paddock Wood and East Peckham and the 7 via Tonbridge and Hadlow.

Oh yes forgot about Crowborough… what Arriva route goes there ?
Also , they pretty much cover Kent. Apart from Stagecoach in East Kent, so surely Arriva will keep a stronghold there?
Nothe Kent and the Medway towns..

Does Arriva actually have any work in Sussex? Curious as the operator name is Arriva Kent & Sussex. It's actually called Arriva Kent & Surrey - it was changed when the (now closed) Guildford operation was added. There is one route which still ventures into Sussex: the 286, albeit on schooldays only: bustimes.org/services/286-colemans-hatch-hartfield-groombridge-speldhurs

So Crowbourough doesn’t have an Arriva service ? The 228/229 service is now run by Compass as a Crowborough town service. Apparently it connects into the Brighton and Hove 29 route

Apparently it connects into the Brighton and Hove 29 route There is one school bus to and one from Tunbridge Wells but otherwise it's just a local service. The 29 is more frequent now and serves more of Crowborough. I think Hawkhurst is the nearest Arriva get to Sussex.
