Ironically for the mayor run the roles are reversed!

The Tories have, to the shock of pretty much everyone, held on to Uxbridge and South Ruislip
Steve Tuckwell ran a pretty-much single issue campaign against ULEZ. And this result gives a snapshot as to the strength of feeling in opposition to ULEZ in Outer London. It's a definite blow to Khan.

On a slightly related note, I do think that a sitting mayor should only be able to serve for two 4 year terms. I do think Sadiq Khan has become such a divisive figure over the past few years especially with the rushed implementation of ULEZ expansion. I honestly do not know why he was selected as the Labour mayoral candidate for a 3rd time. Labour would benefited more from a fresh face with new ideas.

Quite relieved Labour didn't win Uxbridge, can't stand London Labour's irritating PR and MPs who are mostly a bunch of Khan sycophants. Finally these cocky out of touch people who haven't been further out than zone 2 are eating some humble pie.

Alright what I'm about to say may upset a few people but I said what I said.
ULEZ has been on the cards for many years. People can fight and protest and do court hearings all you want. IT WILL NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. It's still going ahead whether you like it or not. To some extent some could say it's a cash cow operation hahaha (that made me laugh).
If anything you people should be fighting Boris Johnson. I mean he was the one who initially came up with this idea.
Don't bother asking me to provide sources for this because a simple Google search will suffice for you.

Perhaps the SL8 will revert back to the 607 now as clearly the electorate were not fooled?🤣

Then I guess renumbering the 607 was successful after all? 😁

This by election was mostly dominated by ULEZ although there were other factors involved like the cost of living crisis and potentially shutting down Uxbridge police station. The Tories won by less than 500 votes which I'd consider a success for neither party. The Labour party did not win the seat because of Ulez however the Tories just scraped over the line because 7000 people changed their minds and voted Labour due to the lack of trust in the Tories, more so on a national level. Had it not been for Ulez, Labour would have easily won. Hopefully this stops Khan but sadly it will not and Khan will still proceed with Ulez and win the election next year. As for the other two seats it really shows how unpopular the Tories are. They will have to do a lot better however their majority will probably be wiped out and Labour may or may not form a majority government

A full general election may tell a different story. For one Khan may not be able to somewhat interfere and announce policy benefiting the local Labour candidate.

Given it’s a London seat (consistent anti-Tory trend for the last 10 years across Greater London), the narrowest majority of the three seats and the disgrace of Boris Johnson, Labour widely considered this a slam dunk, and focused a lot of their campaigning energy on Selby and Ainsty. This gives a lot of legitimacy to the London Tory Group ahead of the elections next year, showing that anger against Khan can duck the national trend.

I can't lie when I say this but this country's comprehension skills is at the gutters. I guarantee you'll still have people thinking the ban of new petrol or diesel cars means you can't drive them anywhere.
What it says (at this present moment in time) is that there will be NO MORE NEW PETROL OR DIESEL cars that will be on sale from 2030 onwards. It didn't say you can't drive petrol or diesel cars from that year onwards. I really hope people understand this.
However in saying this I wouldn't be surprised if they moved the goalpost to ensure that Electric cars are taxed heavily in the future.
