So folks (for those living in London or within the commuter belt) as you're aware ULEZ kicks off in a few weeks.
I've seen posters being put up around the A13 in red writing. I've also seen cameras being put up around Poynders Road around Clapham South when visiting a friend of mine a month ago. As much as people would have wanted to put off this tax this was on the cards even before the pandemic. I am going to feel for some people especially those that have a Euro 5 diesel that was registered in 2014 as they could be in a tricky spot to change their cars.
Other cars wouldn't be able to pass through some parts of London as much as they used to.
What's all your thoughts on this folks.

I’ve seen the cameras go up on the side roads off Battersea Rise and a section of Clapham Common North Side Whilst I see what they’re trying to do with this scheme, I fear that the South Circular in particular will be even worse to negotiate after the changes come in

I think your area is just inside the zone. Christchurch Road is going to be mayhem especially with the older diesel cars owners who allow the black smoke to come out of their cars because they can't fix their DPFs. Luckily where I live it's just outside the zone.

I feel it could have done with much more publicity as we approach the start date. The boundary signs are tiny compared to othe signs like the existing ULEZ and Congestion ones. I wonder how many people coming from places like Essex will be caught out.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's somewhat deliberate where the relevant powers that be are relying on such motorists to be caught out.

A lot of cars are going to get caught out for the first few days, I think in about a month after it goes live it may go down.

I think the first few days will be a massive pay day for them whilst they will be rubbing their hands with glee.

Luckily where I live it's just outside the zone. And that's not even factoring in the fact that even pre Lambeth LTN's, Christchurch Road had regular jams and post LTN, that has only increased. The only positive for myself that I could potentially see is a reduction in traffic in Brixton as post LTN's, traffic has increased on most approaches (Acre Lane being an exception which hasn't really changed and isn't often full of traffic) despite Lambeth posting figures up suggesting Effra Road has seen a reduction in traffic which is in contrast to my observations where I walk along it almost daily to & from work and other means.

Would imagine vast majority of petrol cars are at least Euro4. It is the older diesels that will be hit, as they need to be Euro6 or better

I know around the Catford end of the SCR that's going to be another area where it will be even worse in terms of the traffic levels. It's chaotic enough around the Gyratory and with ULEZ coming in closer to that side of London will be carnage.

If they don't go into the zone regularly then those people won't feel it as much. For instance one person could be going into that zone 5 days a week which will cost them 62.50. That's not even including fuel or parking prices.

The Conspiracy theorist in me thinks the LTN's were put there to route the traffic on to the main roads so there is no need to put cameras on the little roads for the ULEZ to work 👁️😂 I think the limit for Petrol vehicles isn't too bad but at the same time realistically the majority of people driving polluting older Petrol cars are probably people who cannot afford a newer car , however I think Euro 6 for Diesels is very silly , You could have a 7 year old car or van or fleet of vans and now won't be able to drive if you or your business is poorer within the inner circle roads , when you could of saved your hard earned cash and been told by the government a few years back that Diesels were the way forward , seems a very backwards policy from a mayor who is for the "Working Class" Londoners however pollution isn't getting any better so I guess something has to be done but I think maybe they could of extended the limit for Diesels maybe Euro 5 and for Petrols Euro 3 and had like a Zone 1 with the higher standards to be met by the current ULEZ zone and a Zone 2 with the relaxed limits but I personally think within the next few years the whole M25 will be ULEZ .

LTNs were put in because the neo-nazi like LCC wanted them and had somehow managed to worm their way into seemingly every London Council, who in turn pay them handsomely.

It is nothing more than an excuse to make money. Total BS from the mayor even down to some pathetic advert I heard on the radio featuring some drivel from a cardiovascular person or whatever about the ULEZ bringing down emissions and making it easier now for people in London. Total absolute hogwash. Only sheep would believe that.
