The site just ate a long post so I'll give you the edited version! It's another one that doesn't really qualify for a number of reasons, but I thought was mildly diverting. The 23, formerly from Aldgate out to Becontree Heath, before becoming a 15 tribute act and eventually taking its number (the 15 itself becoming 15A). Then being effectively reborn out of itself as Westbourne Park to Liverpool St, then getting hacked back and contorted to run to Hammersmith. But what made me think of it was the aborted plan to turn it into a service to Wembley. It would have effectively moved east-west across London. In January - April 1981 route 23 was Oxford Circus - Tower - Aldgate - Becontree Heath.

The 122 was London’s longest bus route many moons ago with it running from Crystal Palace to Bexleyheath and at one point in the 70s it was extended to Slade Green.
Incidentally there was a route that ran from Victoria to Slade Green, via the routes 2 to Crystal Palace then the 122 to Bexleyheath, a very long a circuitous route

I think that was first time that a route was split and the new route was numbered in the 4xx series. Something that would happen many times over the next 20 years (427, 430, 432, 436, 460, 476).

Route 107 used to be Enfield Lock to Queensbury, from E rather than EW (or PB).

The 12 at one point ran some journeys from Willesden Junction to South Croydon although most started from Park Royal and ran in two overlapping sections, South Croydon to Oxford Circus and Dulwich to Park Royal/Willesden Junction (Harlesden).

According to Ian Armstrongs website, in the 30s is was extended even further in the north to Brent Station.

I never quite understood why the Bexleyheath - Bromley service kept the 269 number when the route was split, given it had only served that section for 2 years and the 469 performed the role the 269 had been introduced to do.

The 714 used to run from London Victoria, certainly as far as Dorking and I think to Horsham, then the northern terminus was changed to West Croydon Bus Station, following the 726 routing from Kingston. The route was then cut back to Kingston, I think in the early 90’s, but you had the summer southern extension from Horsham to Brighton or Littlehampton via Worthing, dependant on which day it was. If I remember correctly Tuesdays and Sundays it went to Littlehampton, and Brighton the rest of the week. Coach due at the coast at 11:30, driver on break until 14:00. Return at 18:30 after an 18:15 arrival. After route changed to 465 in 1992 just Kingston to Horsham was covered, originally with SNB’s and then early darts.

Staying in the same area route 406 was Kingston to Walton-on-the-Hill, with certain peak journeys extended to Redhill via Reigate, and one journey in each peak extended again to Redhill, St. Bedes school. Also route 131 had a regular Sunday extension from Wimbledon to Clapham Common Old Town, with one journey starting early Sunday morning at Aldwych. At the other end some buses carried on to West Molesey Central Avenue via the current 411, and when operated by London and Country certain evening journeys went through to Weybridge Station or Addlestone Bus Garage via Walton on Thames

The 133 making its way to Hendon Central was pretty impressive.
