I find this article so funny as well. How can an express be a Superloop when most of London is now 20 MPH When I see this posted elsewhere I thought it was a April the 1st joke released early! Good luck to them trying to run a service using the A406 in east London! This is my personal opinion but think it it’s a waste of money and more awful branding. Why can’t TfL concentrate on getting the basics right like sorting out over regulation of services.

Dare I say, this is quite an exciting project. Fantastic news about route X26 being doubled in frequency to every 15 minutes. It really deserves the investment it is going to get. The route is a vital service for South West London. I wonder what the new PVR of route X26 will be. The article also confirms that the route will get brand new vehicles next year so I presume these will be electric. I can see Go-Ahead (if they retain the route) getting brand new Electroliners for the route due to their range.

How was a express bus serve Ilford ? Would it leave the A406 sit in gridlock traffic double run and then head back into the A406 after sitting in more traffic!

Why don’t they get the existing buses to run properly (and faster). If anyone still uses buses in central London, I can probably walk faster than how abominably slow some of them are!

Reading comments online where people are getting caught up in the hype about these services being “express” but forgetting they will be using existing roads which are already congested. These superloop buses can’t fly!

It does specifically say the frequency increase is planned "later this year" and the new buses "next year" so the plan definitely involves using existing buses temporarily until the route is retendered. It won't be hard to find existing buses to use either, the amount of routes converting to electrics is leaving tonnes of spare buses. TfL has a long standing habit of saying one thing and doing another. I’ll remain cautious of their antics until they actually happen. I don’t trust Kahn and see this is as nothing more than a way to grab votes in the outer boroughs. After all this is something TfL has been trying to do since the days of Livingstone with only one new express route and even then it was a result of hacking away another, albeit very long, route. If idiot Khan thinks this will win him votes in Outer London he is even more deluded than we thought possible. I envisage really high voter turnout next time, with ‘nul points’ going to Khan.

I have just seen a photo mock up of the Superloop route branding on a bus. It is a Enviro400EV in a retro livery with an Abellio London logo! Possible foreshadowing?

Sadly he has certain demographics completely captured so thinks he can go anything and still retain the power that is all that matters to him. We'll see.

Two cheers for this. My concern is the diluting of frequencies on parallel stopping routes so that instead of one high-frequency route, you end up with two low-frequency ones.
That said, it is heartening to hear that the X140 has been successful. I think that is partly because the 140 corridor was already crazy-busy anyway, but also because the 140 and X140 do different things. It's also interesting that some people use other bus routes as a feeder into the X140. I suspect the proposed Harrow-North Finchley service may experience a similar effect and be a useful compliment to the 183.

The "Superloop" branding will be rolled out first on the four existing express routes so it could appear quite soon (EDIT: yes I know Abellio doesn't operate an express route at present).

Bet this will be a pain for a garage like Q that tends to allocate any buses available to the X68.

Hmmm .... express routes .... branding .... if these are so awful for London, how come commercial operators use them so widely in the "Real World" and are prepared to spend good money on them? I'd love to see what Ray Stenning would do with the concept.

Oh wow, so the branding is being displayed on an actual bus already! I really like it.

To me, more than happy to see this SuperLoop concept given a try, but it needs to have a defined, what makes it a success criteria, if we are going to commit long term funding to it.
I do feel that the "superloop" concept is very much diluted though by including 607,X68 and X239. You have this core loop, then chuck in a few random other routes into the branding just because they are express.
My only concern is what will happen to frequencies of the parallel routes. If they get halved, then lots of people will be disadvantaged for the benefit of a few. But this seems to be a common policy for this mayor, so probably is supported by his elitest backers.
