I haven't spoken in the forum in a very long time but after TFL announced the plan for a new Express Route on the Old Kent Road after the X140 has been a success, I decided why not start a thread about potential new express routes in the same kind as the X68 / X26 / X140 Side Note (The 607 should be renumbered X207 imo) I will start with a route near and dear to my heart. The ever so lovely 18 (due to using the route as a kid and living on the route (especifically the Changover point at College Park. New Route X18 Harrow and Wealdstone Station to Baker Street Station (Or Euston) Serving all major stops including, Harrow Town Centre Northwick Park Hospital Sudbury and Harrow Station Wembley Town Centre Wembley outskirts (For Stadium) Stonebridge Park Station Harlesden Town Centre Harrow Road (Scrubs Lane) for Willesden Junction Station Kensal Green Station Harrow Road (Prince of Wales) Royal Oak Station Edgware Road Station for Bakerloo Line Marylebone Station Baker Street Station (Miss out Great Portland Street Station) Warren Street Station Euston Bus Station Please start the your ideas

The X43 back in the day was quite popular, maybe a remake of that?

A little side Bar for all who want to take a stab is...
1) The route must be practical to remove loadings and congestion on very busy used route but doesn't have to be on a corridor that is already overbused.
1) The need to be fessable by todays traffic standards.
3) As an Express it needs to have an X and assist an already existing route.
4) Try to limit the stops to Town Centres and Bus Stations/Train/Tube unless a good reason is given (e.i schools or other)
5) Just have fun doing it

Giving it a quick go (and under the assumption the X routes can go beyond the terminus of its regular version)....
X59: Kings Cross to Streatham Station - limited stoppings at Waterloo, Kennington (Oval), Brixton, Streatham Hill Station and Streatham Station
X109: Brixton to Purley - limited stoppings at Streatham Station, Norbury, Thornton Heath Garage, Croydon Town Centre (Wellesley Road) and Purley

I will be very surprised if this does not result in an X53. From Oxford Circus to Plumstead serving only Trafalgar Sq, St Thomas’ Hosp, E&C, the two new BLE station, NXG & NX stations, Deptford Broadway & Deptford Bridge, Blackheath Royal Standard, Woolwich Arsenal and Plumstead Station perhaps?

X25 between Oxford Circus and Ilford? I think that would be unlikely. The Old Kent Road would be a good corridor to trial an express route as it is not well served by rail routes. You cannot say that about the 25 corridor! I'm not generally a fan of express routes in London, they can turn one high-frequency route into two low-frequency ones. And if the stopping bus comes first, do you get that or wait for the express? What if there is a gap in the stopping service and you stand at the bus stop whilst two (or more) expresses fly past?

I would have to agree..... Like I said.. This is an Express Route that makes sense... And what I mean is that I doesn't give tfl ammunition to remove existing services. The X109 could be yes but the X59 is imo no relevant since the 159 is more than enough company

Like others, I agree that the return of the X53 will happen.
I wouldn't mind seeing a X176. All stops between Penge and East Dulwich Goose Green, then fast to Elephant and all stops to Tottenham Court Road which would relieve the all stopping 176, plus the 185 and 40.

Again this could be a good idea however with the Overground and also the 279 being pretty frequent this could result in the removal of the 349 entirely??? I would assume this would happen
