Keir at the moment in a LD coalition would be far better than Boris. But it wouldn’t as coalitions have a long history of getting little done. Getting little done would be better than this party's doings now. Or are you really advocating a party that has now had multiple sexual assault claims is fit to govern?

Keir at the moment in a LD coalition would be far better than Boris. I agree - I think the Conservative and LD coalition worked better than the Conservative party on its own.
Labour are calling for a snap General Election.
The Lib Dem & Tory coalition was not great either - the Lib Dems were sent into the wilderness for breaking mutiple election promises and rightfully so whilst that coalition also ushered in many of the issue we have now through it's austerity program. That's not to say how a Labour and Lib Dem coalition would do (I'd rather one than this current nonsense of a government) but to use the previous example of one doesn't exactly aid it's case either.

To be clear these are isolated incidents within that party, but let’s also be clear that other leading parties have also had their fare share of scandals related to their politicians or are we forgetting Claudia Webbe and the acid. But I would rather have a government and not just a party that can make policy decision rather than stagnating because it the two sides can agree on very little. We should be reminded of how well it worked under the Tory/Lib Dems and Tory/DUP, because make no mistake that was a coalition by any other name. Lets also not forget that Kier Starmer is a blue as they come despite the identity he stands behind. Might as well vote for a wolf in sheeps clothing.

I’ve a hunch he might shock us all and call a snap election as I honestly can’t see him surviving the rest of the year - it’s a slippery slope when you lose a chancellor on its own never mind a a health secretary chucked in as well A general election right now would be disastrous for both major parties. Neither BJ or Keith is capable of leading government in an age of clickbait journalism and Twitter. Let's be fair, he hasn't got much choice - when your chancellor goes, your on borrowed time so realistically, the only card he has left is the last resort option and that is call to an election and hope it falls into his place. Sitting there twaddling his thumbs doing nothing just means we'll be seeing him gone within months anyway so he may as well take the huge gamble.

Starmer is not a blue, he sits to the right of the Labour Party but he is a Labour Party member and will govern with a cabinet of Labour MPs. This government can't make any decision without a scandal getting involved.

I don't think anyone has suggested Starmer is the most hard left person you'll meet - besides, the only successful Labour leader in recent memory was one who had a chunk of the Tory in him anyway so not sure that matters nor are people criticising that particular aspect of Boris, more the rest of Boris actions and convictions.

My point was that Starmer seems very confused about the voters he is trying to attract. He isn’t red enough for the hard core Labour left but he also doesn’t appeal to those Brexit voting former red wall seat voters. His speech on Brexit yesterday just seemed muddled trying to hit every subset without offering anything credible and with very little detail, even his Pride appearance over the weekend stunk of virtue signalling and vote grabbing as opposed to actual care for the LGBT+ community. He needs to decide where his loyalties lie. Trying to appeal to everyone won’t do him any favours come an election because there will likely be questions in the media over his priorities to certain communities.

Will Quince (children and families minister) (MP for Colchester) has resigned as he was misled by number 10, and stood up before Media on Monday repeating facts that he was given which turned out to be lies
Laura Trott, a parliamentary private secretary in Department of Transport (MP for Sevenoaks) has also resigned

The longer the better almost, if he makes it to a GE we will be rid of this terrible party from government hopefully for a long time. I’ve a hunch he might shock us all and call a snap election as I honestly can’t see him surviving the rest of the year - it’s a slippery slope when you lose a chancellor on its own never mind a a health secretary chucked in as well There won't be a GE we are on fixed term parliaments, and Tory MPs will not be like turkeys and vote for Xmas, which is what would be needed for a GE to be called ... it is now an issue for Parliament, not the PM. Two-thirds of MPs must vote in favour of calling a GE. Think he must surely realise the time to go is now. He has lost the respect of the public. The personal and professional standards of himself and those he has appointed have fallen a long way below the standards the public expect of their leaders. All that will happen is this will trigger a leadership contest with the winner becoming PM. Only 2 winners that could have any sense of respectability in my eyes, would be as previously stated Ben Wallace, or Penny Mordaunt. Both of these have military backgrounds, so appreciate the core principal of being a leader is that the are there to serve. Not sure if they from a public school background, believe neither are but not researched this in depth, so have as 'normal a background as most MPs would have' (from both parties), so I would like to think not so detached from reality as Boris and chums. I would also like to see a big promotion for Johnny Mercier who has always impressed me whenever I have heard him speak.

Except that the 2022 Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act fully restored the power to call an early election to the Prime Minister who can choose to prorogue parliament. MPs have no say anymore in a 2/3 vote.

Thank you, missed that and it was only March this year .. probably focused more on what was happening in local politics at the time, what with local elections and the fact that was Croydon Council. Croydon Council were (maybe still are) the local government equivalent of the current national government. But still do not think it would be a good call for the Tory party if Boris were to call a GE, so still can't see it.

I think BoJo is on his way out but personally don’t think he will call an election now (it would be a disaster for the tories at the moment). But suspect BoJo doesn’t care about niceties at this stage, more his desire to cling onto power, party be d*mned

Seem to be at 21 resignations, with 3 Parliamentary private secretaries resigning since PMQs
The 1922 committee is meeting at 5pm, but now seems there will also be an earlier meeting at 4pm where others may try and push Boris out.
There is also a group like Michael Gove who don’t appear to have declared loyalty to the PrimeMinister, so might be planning something.
Interesting afternoon coming up

With the sheer amount of resignations taking place today alone, and many more Tory MPs who previously had voted for him in the confidence vote finally changing their minds, somehow feel like the tide is really turning. I’ve seen rumours Johnson will be given an ultimatum, either resign or face a confidence vote.
