The difference is that Keir said he would resign if the cops fined him, whereas in contrast Boris has refused despite a fine, a lengthy inquiry and report over the matter. I think Durham Police would have done something about this now if it was so serious. Bojo was looking as tired as the buses on the 268, long before covid. Rich food and sedentary lifestyle won't help. He may have a run from time to time, but I doubt it's helped much. I am still baffled how a man of his build and in that unfortunate age group where so many men have succumbed to Covid, he fought it off with no assistance from a ventilator but yet allegedly almost "took one for the team"? Some things do not add up. I think Boris has gotten by with a dash of make believe everywhere he goes. It's becoming a farce, people resigning faster than he can replace them, we are up to 39 now... Queen may order dissolution of Parliament as her government has shown to be unstable. That's the real person in charge of things (even as a constitutional figurehead)... he lied to her too and had to apologise last year. We are in unchartered waters with this one Keir has put himself in a position where he has no choice but to resign if he gets a fine, although it's little more than a parking ticket, unless he goes for one last throw of the dice and contests the matter in court. Won't end like that. I've already seen this episode on Netflix Stranger Fines season 4 ends when the Vote Flayer is cornered after running out of yes men to appoint There's clearly bigger fish to fry for the cops than someone having a cheeky drink in Lockdown, compared to several parties that Boris either attended or knew about on his watch. In the unlikely event of his departure, Ms Rayner has seemed just as comfortable dealing with the likes of Boris at PMQ's.

Hopefully we can say goodbye to her coochie.

Boris has finally resigned but will remain PM until a new Tory leader is elected in the Autumn. The question is will he be able to fill all the posts of those who have resigned in the last day or so?
Personally think it would have been better if he had just gone today a temporary PM was put in place.

I can't see him staying, as it's too toxic. We don't have to keep him alive like the EN's on the 318

Boris is to make a statement at 12:30 I knew it would be a poor statement all talk of the good he has done and nothing really about the last few days! Can’t believe he plans to stay around until October!

Can’t believe he plans to stay around until October! Leopards don’t change their spots - he was never going to address what happened about the last few days

Serial liar with previous record of being sacked on multiple occasions for lies, finally loses the confidence of his MPs because he told one lie too many. Them’s the breaks indeed.
Typically bullish statement from Johnson without an ounce of contrition, but I wouldn’t have expected anything less. It did slightly irk me when he claimed to have got Brexit done. What about Northern Ireland and the Union? He’s a first class prat, but the mess in NI is also on the DUP for getting into bed with the Tories to form a government in the first place. After the DUP and Lib Dems got their fingers burned after forming coalition governments with the Tories, parties should be much more cautious about propping up a weak Tory majority in future. And voters need to beware of leaders who are all bluster, soundbites and “alternative truths”. Even if there are short term gains, it all eventually catches up with you in the end.
