As these trains are practically brothers and looks very much the same, the best looking from the front is the 720 which also has a better headlight look. I was surprised that the carriages are different lengths, even though they look around the same size. Even strangers the 710 on the London Overground is only capable of 75mph, whilst the 345 crossrail does 90mph and the 720 does 100mph. The 345 also has the fastest acceleration, it clearly is felt when it moves off from a stop being up to 1 m/s2.

I agree that the 345 is the fastest although I've not used a 720 myself so am relying on yourself for that one but it's certainly faster off the mark IMO than the 710 which I have used. The speeds make sense for the 345 as I believe (open to correction) the Elizabeth Line doesn't run on tracks above 90mph (I'm pretty sure up to Shenfield is max 90 whilst from memory, the slow tracks to Reading are also 90) whilst I believe there is a 100mph limit beyond Shenfield though can't remember where it begins so makes sense why the 720 has a higher speed. I'm not sure on the speeds up towards Cheshunt

There's also the class 730 that have gangway connections at the front. As much as I like the 345s, it's a real shame GA didn't order a fleet for FLIRTs instead- the 745/755s are absolutely brilliant trains

What I find even more frustrating is we are now seeing Metro/Suburban style versions in the Cl. 777 and 756, so fleet an order might have been possible. Aventras are aesthetically pleasing but the gap between the train and the platform at some stations is ridiculous. I hope the increase in orders for Stadler units pressures the other manufacturers Alstom, Siemens, Hitachi, etc. to build units with floor heights that match platform heights.

Has the new 720's entered service on the C2C. i have not seen any on the route, but do not use it that often. I have seen them parked up at Ilford depot though.

I'm not sure on the speeds up towards Cheshunt The 710's have quite a turn of speed, of late, between stations on the Enfield line it can feel like being on the Tube, with quick accelleration, journeys on the old 315s used to be painful. I don't like the seating layout, but still more space than a 720 720's are quick, line speed from Tottenham Hale is 80, and to Cheshunt is 90 (onwards to Cambridge is 100 max, though most never reach that speed). Not yet been on a 345, but yes, a familiar face. I prefer the bolder looking 730's with LNWR around Birmingham (some are replacing the Siemens 350s which have a similar look), but can't complain about new trains around these parts I will miss the scream of the Brush traction motors on a 317, but not the seats which started to work themselves loose towards the end

No but I've seen them running between Crewe and Wembley Central on test, No C2C drivers are currently trained on them as none have been accepted for delivery yet
