First journeys Bromley to Croydon 21 minutes and Croydon to Bromley 22 minutes AM peak 48 mins Bromley to Croydon, PM peak 43 mins AM peak 52 mins Croydon to Bromley, PM peak 48 mins Thanks for sharing...very little difference there on the peak trips between the 119 and SL5 which is curious if somewhat disappointing. Those early morning trips sound like they'll be quite spirited - that will require an average speed along the way of about 20/25 mph including bus stops! I took the longest peak time which was at the height of the rush hour i.e. school run. This would be across 3-4 trips which then it should be around 40 mins.

Does anyone have any information on the running times of the SL2 and SL3?
Will be interesting to see how long it takes to do a full loop from Thamesmead to North Woolwich (or vice versa).

Normally I would be quite mellow when new bus routes makes it's debut but the SL2 is one I'm really looking forward to especially with the restored link between Barking and Gants Hill that was lost in 2010 and fun fact this will be the first time since 1996 that DX operated a route between Barking and Gants Hill.
I still remember those Grey Green days.

Should the SL1 stop at Cambridge Roundabout?

Should the SL1 stop at Cambridge Roundabout? No, unlike a few other express routes the SL1 is actually a very good example of how its done. The stop at Cambridge roundabout isn't the problem, it'll be the routing needed and the delay caused to journeys.

As someone who rode it on the first day in the PM peak, I feel the flyovers/underpasses are very useful in reducing running times and, personally, attracting passengers to the route, which is part of why the scheme was introduced for quick connections across Outer London. I hope SL2 is equally efficient in getting pax across the East as SL1 is for the North.

Should the SL1 stop at Cambridge Roundabout? Right now, I’d say yes however I’ll give my final answer once I’ve rode the route

Leon Daniels wrote an interesting article on the Superloop network in the Aug/Sep issue of The Londoner - Sorry its late I only received the issue in the post recently. . I agree with a lot of what he says and agree with him when he suggests the network could eventually fade into being a normal part of the bus network with more and more stops added much like the 607 had done over the years.

To think I'm more excited about this bus operating compared to the Elizabeth line opening. Oh yes I remembered when they would literally throw any bus on the 179. They were the real masters of the ANYTHING GOES approach from my earliest memories.

I haven't seen the article but I think Leon may well be right, the SL3 for example I could see eventually becoming a normal all stops service replacing the 269 and 301. Just a random observation yesterday, I saw a few SL1's on the North Circular with very few passengers onboard whilst the 34 looked quite busy.

Same with the SL10, the times I’ve taken it there has been barely anyone on board. But the 183 still seems busy. The original “express” routes are the only real success stories and I don’t see that changing long term. The SL routes beyond that just seem like an expensive vanity, just give us more frequent services not this express bullshit.

Will be interesting to see if they cut any routes a year from now or add any , and I think to start with they should of kept the "X" instead of the "SL" normal civillians probably think SL means something else most people are creatures of habit , I've read stories of people waiting for 34 and sitting in traffic instead of the SL .
